Here in southern MN we've received quite a lot of snow. First 14" of heavy wet stuff, then a few inches of fluffy stuff. Then another foot or so of medium stuff, and a couple days ago another 4-5" of fluffy stuff.

Needless to say the ATV plow simply can't push the snow up and over the berms that have been made. So I've been using a combination of the ATV plow and walk behind snow blower (yes, I wish now I would have gotten the blower for my BX!)

But today the piles where I push snow to were simply encroaching too close to the road and getting quite big. And there was another dusting of snow from last night. I thought, let's have fun with the BX!

First I used the box blade to scrape the remaining snow. Got it into nice rows, then scooped it up.

Next, I need to make "more room" at my end piles for the plow. So I used the bucket and WOW was it fun. Our driveway is about 300' with another large parking area off of it in front of the man cave. So I had 4 piles I need to move. I had so much fun I did out in front of the driveway too. I now have quite a few VERY large piles of snow... my lot looks like a Walmart parking lot after a blizzard cleanup... lol.

The fed Ex guy delivered a package while I Was cleaning and he said "Wow, that's the smallest tractor I've ever seen! looks like a jd lawnmower with a bucket! hahha!" He made me want to punch him, but he was right... in a way. maybe it was the Jd part that made me a little frustrated..

I don't think he noticed he was delivering my protein and other stuff from bodybuilding.com... ;)

Fun stuff! I wouldn't use the bucket or BB to clean the whole driveway, but man, making room and piling snow is fun!

Yep, lots of fun. I used my BX2660 last year to remove our record snowfall. We got 55" during the winter, way more than the average of 16". And it was fun!

If you had the snow blower it would be One and Done. Too darn cold out there to put in a lot of time:D

Last year in Maryland we got a lot of snow. My BX 24 was stressed to its limits because of its height. I did get out before most of my neighbors, but it was a long process. This year I have an L3700, much taller.

I have a long gravel driveway and using a snowblower is a major pain.. replacing shear pins about every ten minutes. I used to use the bigger tractor and the bucket but after I got the BX I bought a grader blade. I found that turning the blade backwards.. so that the leading edge isn't "digging" but riding over the gravel.. it does an excellent job of plowing without pulling up the gravel. I do it in reverse so that the tractor is not riding over the snow first. The blade takes it right down to the gravel and the snow does not ride over the top of the blade at all unless it's REAL deep.. say more than a foot.

Personally I find moving snow with the BX way too slow! I am used to plow trucks with 8'/9' plows, Bobcats with buckets 7'+, and now the L3600 with a 7' bucket on the FEL and a 7' blower on the 3pt.

This last storm we got 22" and we had to use the BX to move snow out from inbetween a couple of buildings that had 4' drifts. If I could have gotten the L3600 in there it would have been done it 15 minutes, but with only 6' walk way I had to use the BX. I was there for the better part of 1 hour.

It may start out being fun, but gets old really fast. Between 2 of use we put 13 hrs on the L3600, 3.5 hrs on the BX, and 6 miles on the ATV with plow in just this last snow fall. It wasn't bad in the L3600 with heat and radio, but the BX and ATV pretty much sucked

As I noted in another thread....my neighbors are suddenly very supportive of my decision to buy the BX. While we have only had a bit over a foot so far, it does my driveway nicely with just the bucket, plus busted about 10-12 city plow berms from peoples driveways all in less than an hour. They REALLY like that tractor now. Oh....and I don't know that I even used a gallon of diesel in the process. Can't believe how fuel stingy the thing is.

So far in the last three weeks we've gotten 14", 21" and another 6" the other day. My bx is tucked away for the winter in my under garage. I've always plowed my driveway (3 car wide, 140' long) with my atv and if needed clean up with my snow blower, but after last year and now this year, I'm seriously thinking about getting a front mount blower. My only fear is once I get one we wouldn't get any more large snow storms, it's hard to justify the price for 2-3 times a year.

Please realize I was just out goofing around. I don't use my FEL for snow removal, that's for the ATV/blade and snowblower. IT's just when you plow that much snow the berms and end piles get really big and long. So I was making room by making them narrow and high and pushing the back so there is more room for when I plow.

THe only time I'd try to use the FEL for moving snow, and only the FEL, would be if we got that really super heavy wet stuff and it was over a foot. That stuff ATV plow can't really handle in 300' shots and a snowblower (8hp) only throws it a foot or so. :)

I stare at computers all day and it's nice to go out and do stuff like that. Splitting wood, felling trees, etc is also a nice brain relaxer for me.
