I have the front mounted snow blower on my BX, works great, you won't regret buying one.

Hi all,

I have a BX2360 and a rear snowblower. I can not imagine that it takes much longer then a blade. (I have not tested it our yet. No snow yet this season.)

What I like about the blower is I wont have to worry about the driveway getting boxed. Additionally, with a snowblower I wont have to worry about pushing snow across my street.

I only have my loader and a back blade for snow removal. Last year it was the loader only, a two wheel drive JD 110 (74?) and a "mini" swisher bucket from TSC with home made arms and such. I had a blast! Slow as molasses, slow hydro, old slow gear tractor etc. Last year it took 8 hrs and two quarts of oil to do my drive and around my shop, if I didn't get stuck. We've had two significant snows here this winter (12" and 6") my 1860 and the loader did it in 2 hrs. If you started out with a shovel, the BX is hard to beat.

Kevin,

With as much snow as we have, we are boxed even if I didn't plow! :) I may spend the day moving snow around again just to get out of the house... lol..

This is my first year moving snow with my newly acquired tractor.
L1801
I've got a 48" bucket and 48" blower.
I push the snow in a giant pile with the fel.
Wait for a day when the wind gets right ripping and fire the snow into the neighbors field.
Gets **** near 40 feet of hang time when the wind is right.

I'm hoping for more snow.
I spent 4 hours moving snow the first time, smiling the whole time.
-35 with the wind chill.
No cab needed. In Manitoba we are built with a built in defense against cold weather.
They're called testicles!!
I hope I have the same gumption in 2 months.

For me (in SE Michigan), with 3/10 mile of private single lane road to plow and 200' of driveway, the front blade on my my BX is the right tool. It goes pretty quick and I can push the snow farther back if I need to. If we get a real heavy storm I can put the loader on and move piles, but haven't had to do that yet. An ATV with a plow might be faster in my situation, but I have no other use for an ATV. To answer the question, it's a blast! I've done plowing with a truck but didn't like not being able to see what was happening at the blade. And it's so much less tedious than doing the lane with the 42" blade on the Simplicity I had a few years ago...
We had a 5-6 inch storm a week ago. When I went out on the lane to plow, some of my neighbors were lined up doing "The Wave" :)

Sounds to me like your neighbors owe you a few bottles of thank you juice.

LOL!

I was expecting to buy a rear blade but after walking the lot at the Kubota Dealership the wife said "What will I do when I drag the snow out to the end of the road?" So she talked me into buying the rear blower... I just remember winters back in MI when every snow storm made the drive way a foot or two more narrow.

I agree! You'd think that I wouldn't have to buy any "juice" all winter, but sadly few of them adequately appreciate my efforts and time investment.
Some day I might just leave it and see what happens..., but then I'd be missing out on all that fun!:licking:
