Apparently quite a few. We all make mistakes and some of us (me) need to learn by making those mistakes. Maybe we can learn a few things NOT to do from this poor guys experience.

This morning I was sitting in front of the picture window enjoying a hot cup-o-joe. A truck towing a new trailer pulls into my neighbor's place across the road. There's a nice new cabbed Kubota on the trailer with a disc attached. The neighbor is a renter and likes to have a garden, so I figure that that is what the guy is there to do. I recognize the truck as belonging to the guy that bush hogs the neighbor's pasture with his little tractor (chinese I believe.) So I'm thinking, nice new tractor and good for him!

But I'm also thinking that the clay is too saturated from recent rains to be discing, especially with a 2WD tractor. I also noticed that the disc is a bit narrower than the tractor.

The guy pulls out to the garden area and starts discing, makes maybe six passes and starts heading back to his trailer. Ah...he just realized that it's too wet.

So he jumps in his truck and proceeds to turn around across the saturated pasture. He'll regret that come summer mowing time! Seems it would have been better to back out of the driveway onto the road to turn around. But that's just my two cents. Maybe he's not comfortable backing up a gooseneck yet.

He pulls his tractor up to the trailer, but he's at quite an angle and has the wheels cocked. As he starts up the ramps the front end of the tractor gets REALLY light, swings sideways and off the ramps he goes! Scared the cr*p outta me!

So he pulls his trailer out onto the pavement and then hops into the tractor and drives it out to load. The disc is packed with gumbo and he's dropping it all over the road behind him. When he starts up the trailer ramps the disc is dragging on the asphalt with big chunks of clay and grass falling off, but this time he actually makes it up the ramps safely. Would have been a good idea to clean off the disc before pulling out onto the road. Shortening up the top link would have kept the disc from dragging on the asphalt as well.

As the guy is putting up his trailer ramps he looks at the mess he left and hurries to his truck and drives away. He looked pretty flustered.

Oh...I almost forgot the best (worst) part...he drove off without chaining his tractor down!

As the mud dries, it will bond the tires to the trailer. People build houses out of it, so why not cob "hold downs?" I'm sure that's what he was thinking.

It sounds like his day was about to get a lot worse.

And that's how we entertained ourselves before TV :laughing:

Exactly what I was thinking. If that clay is anything like mine, that tractor is on that trailer to stay unless he has a D3 dozer to break it loose.

Ok, maybe it will stick the the pickup driving too close behind the trailer.

After reading the title of this post, I thought I would be reading about politicians in Washington!

But then again, they move so slowly in Washington, it takes hours to just sit down for a hearing on nonsense.

When I read the title, I thought I could be a contenda, but after reading the OP's post I feel like that guy wins the one way ticket to palookaville.

That is what is known as good street theater. If you want to see an outstanding comedy, go find a park bench near a boat ramp on a sunny weekend. The afternoon is best, because by then the actors have spent the day in the sun drinking beer and getting smarter. If you want to become part of the act, buy a boat or camper.

I've got a buddy that drag races Pro Modifieds which are like Pro Comp cars, but with Nitrous or a Blower. We've been all over the south racing.

He's got a nephew that built a "head ups" car out of a late model mustang. His nephew lives in Florida and kept bugging him to come and go to the track with him.

My buddy drove down one Friday, got out of his truck, and got into the truck with his nephew. They proceeded to drive about 50 miles (on the interstate) at 55-70 m.p.h. to the track pulling his nephew's car.

When they got to the track his nephew pulled out the ramps, got into the car and backed it off the trailer. NO STRAPS!!! He didn't even have one on the car. He just parked it on the trailer, placed it in park, and drove away.

The bad thing is that he had been doing this for several months.

When they got ready to leave the track, my buddy made his nephew leave the car there, so they could go and get some straps. Needless to say his nephew got a quick lesson in the proper way to secure a car to an open trailer.

After what I saw today when I got home, I now believe that the renter and the guy he hired to do his tractor work are like-minded.

When I pulled in front of our house I saw that the mud / grass was now spread ALL over the pavement the length of my frontage. My wife informed me that the renter had used his lawn tractor and chain harrow to drag out the clumps. She smiled that little smile she gets...then took up a nice vantage point on our front deck.

Being the kind and neighborly fellow I am...I proceeded to unload my tractor and scrape the asphalt clean, depositing the offending matter in front of his driveway entrance.
