Jay do you have any tips regarding removal of the tank? I keep putting mine off because it looks like a bit of work and I have no issues if I keep the fuel level above halfway.

I ended up just ordering a new sender/pickup with screen.for 80.00 bucks I just figured what the heck

I got the tank pretty clean.I was able to get all of the gunk out other than a thin film stuck to the sides about half way up where the tanks opens up to another cavity

I also didn't care the way the inside of my radiator looked so I am dropping the fuel tank and radiator off at a rad shop to be steam cleaned this week

Bought all new fuel lines,filters for all fluids and of course I'm gonna change all fluids while I,m at it

I would think so... unless there is corn in the diesel.

Right now I have a 1930 restored Model A pickup that was sealed and the new gas has left about a quart of sealer in the bottom of the tank... called the supply house and was told it's a problem everywhere alcohol is added to motor fuel...

yup, I avoided the problem in my 1931 Model A roadster by dumping in a gallon of phosphoric acid and sloshing it around, and letting it set until the acid dissolved all the rust. I know a lot of people who used the sealer with horrible results when the alky was added, as well as rubber hoses dissolving with it.

I just went out in the garage and reassembled the parts....well most of them to give you a better visual

we will skip past the side covers and grille removal

loosen the 4 10mm bolts holding the hood hinges to the radiator housing bracket.disconnect lights from hood.remove hood


remove 4 10mm bolts holding the fuel tank shroud to the radiator bracket


remove 4 13mm bolts from the fuel tank shroud attached to the frame.disconnect lights harness.remove tank shroud


remove 2 13mm nuts from the bracket in front of the fuel tank


disconnect the two oil cooler hard lines next to the radiator.you will need a 15/16 and 7/8 wrench.I took my time here you may be able to skip this step but it didn't feel right leaving them attached


remove the 4 10mm bolts holding the radiator fan shroud to the radiator.slide shroud forward and rest it on the fan


remove both fuel lines from engine side

slowly raise the radiator up about 1'' while pulling the fuel tank outward.that should get you where you need to be.

I went one step further and pulled the radiator to inspect/clean it and replace the fan belt
I have never posted pictures in on how to do anything so I may have skipped a step or you seen something different as i just reassembled it real quick to make a brief tutorial for you

A perfect solution that became a disaster when fuel formulation changed...
