Backhoe So the backhoe worked great for 12 hrs.

It's really hard to guess and without the tractor to try things on it's really hard. For future reference I'll try the reconnecting the couplers if I ever have a problem.

Word from mech at Norfolk; bad relief valve. One being overnighted to their location, will be installed and machine back tomorrow. *fingers crossed*

If you have a bad relief valve the entire system would run poorly
you may just have a piston separated/ broken away from the rod.

I hope they got it. I'm not positive they did but I'm sure by now you just want your tractor back. Make sure to try it out when they return it.

Leon, the mech says there is an individual relief valve for that function; so (according to him) it only affects that piston and none of the others. Will def operate it when they bring it. I'll chime in here once I know, thanks for the input.

One other thing if the 3 point lever is in the up position(in detent) the 3 point will work and the loader will work some times
The priority valve will keep feeding the 3 point and no aux (hoe) functions will get pressure.

When you get it back try it put the 3 point in up and try and move the hoe functions they might be sluggish but wont have full power.

I learned this the hard way I was going to take mine back to dealer because the hoe wasn't working.
The service guy called me back and said to humor him and put the 3 point in lower position hold it there and try hoe (it worked fine)
He said put it in the middle let it sit there by it self and try hoe (still working)
Then hold it in the lift mode and try hoe ( hoe stopped working)
Then put it back in middle and it worked fine he saved me a trip to dealer!

It has an overload relief, so you don't damage the dipper stick if the bucket is caught on something and you try to drive away or lift the boom. The whole time I was reading this post, that was what I figured was wrong, especially with the other functions working properly. Better to have it fail in the open position than in the closed position and bend a dipper stick rod.

Thanks Tommu, but the 3 point hitch theory was the first thing the salesman asked me. I had experienced that once, bumped the 3 point handle switching seats, tractor stalled and damned if I could figure out why, but actually remembered seeing a guy on here that it happened to, so knew what it was. However, every other function on the backhoe works perfectly, with full power. Wouldn't be the case w/ 3 point hitch engaged, or partially engaged. It would be robbing hydraulic pressure from the whole unit..But thanks for the suggestion.

Brian, I'm with ya. Would be a bad thing if it didn't give when it was supposed to. I use the machine, so it wouldn't take long for me to break something if there weren't safeguards in place. Snafu in the overnighting process kept the valve from getting there in time, will be there in the am, fixed by afternoon, delivered when done. Postponed a small job I needed it for, but to their credit, Norfolk offered me a loaner so I wouldn't have to pay my excavator to dig a couple holes. Can't complain about their service up to this point, they've been right there. I'm pretty confident that they've isolated this as the problem, so hopefully after tomorrow I'll be back in the seat...

Bigenning to stew. I think tomorrow will be the day I pop my cork. No call today, so I called them. "How's it looking" ...."Not good" ..."Why?" ...."We changed the valve, and it's still not working right. We'll keep on it today and try to figure it out."...That was at 11 this am, no phone call or tractor in my driveway. I did say to the guy, "Look, this is a tractor that I bought new in October. It has 12 hours on it. How about you guys find a new BH76 at another dealer, swap it out, and then you can take all the time you want to fix it." ...."I don't think Kubota would go for that"........................

Been 2 weeks. I cannot believe that this can be so hard for a dealer to figure out.

A few friends are of the opinion that because this is warranty work, they're not too concerned with the time, and it's getting bumped for paying work, but I would assume that it's like a car dealer, who gets paid by the manufacturer if they do work under warranty, no?

Yup. Tomorrow's gonna be eruption day. Going to stay civil, but I laid out some substantial cash for this machine, and they are not exactly impressing the !^%$! out of me with their know-how.
