So what do the Safety police say about this?

I pull my 5000 lb CUT on a 1500 lb trailer (7500 lb capacity) with my little S10 TrailBlazer, which is about the same size as that truck. The hitch is rated for towing 6500 lbs. I also have a nice Prodigy brake controller in the rig, and electric brakes on both axles.

I can actually stop faster with the trailer on than I can without it on.

I've never had a problem with swaying, and taking off isn't an issue.

However, there was this once I forgot to turn the boost up on the Prodigy controller when it went from unloaded to loaded. Had 2 cords of green wood on it. Sailed right through a 4-way stop sign. Good thing the controller has an e-brake!

I wish I could haul my BX on a trailer behind my Toyota Nissan or Dodge D50 pick ups.
That would be great and I would not have to buy a big full size clumsy awkward truck that I hate.

Well LB I guess you're outta luck

I know that feeling bigE  . It happened to me a couple times with firewood too! (16ft trailer and s10 as well). It's funny you mentioned you can stop better with trailer then without as mine does same thing too.

Thanks for the moring laugh!. I imagine hes just delivering the trailer or carrying light stuff as others have said. No way theres enough braking power there for anything too large.

All of those trailers have brakes.

True enough, however trailer brakes, at least in my experience, usually lack maintenance, and their performance leaves alot to be desired.

A neighbor (down the road - I don't know him) uses a 1972 or so Ford Ranchero to pull a GN car hauler. He apparently buys junkers, fixes and resells them. I have seen him pulling 3 or 4 times in the 10 months I have been here.

while driving yestorday i saw this at a auto parts store and thought i'd see what ya'll had to say. This is the first time i have ever seen a gooseneck pulled by a compact truck. if i had to guess i would say that it had an 18 to 20 bed. i don't remember if it had 6 or 8 lug axles so its ether a 10k or 14k trailer. i'm thinking that that trailer weighs 2500 lbs maybe more. The real question is what does he pull with it. So would you want to be behind it and do you think its safe? I think he is ok. . . he has a roll bar:D
You would be fine behind him. I would be afraid to be in the front of him. Many, many years ago I borrowed a big boat trailer to haul several loads of about 2 cubic meters each of freshly cut pine boards. My Fiat 1500 weighing about 1200 kg was pulling the load of about 2500 kg. When I made first round I was driving 20 to 30 mph. With each load I drove little faster so when I was pulling the last load I was going quite fast. When attempted to stop at traffic light that suddenly changed to red I locked the breaks and shot trough the intersection with tires smoking. To pull it is not a problem but to stop it is. Unless he has electric breaks.

I guess it would depend on how he loads it as to how much tongue weight he has. Those weren't really built to handle a lot of weight, but back then bigger engines with a lot of towing capacity weren't unusual. If it's a 1972, it probably has a 351/352 cu. in. engine and if it's a 1971, it might even have the 428 engine.

maybe he got stopped by the fuzz and had to drop it.
I have a hard time believing someone wood take the time to put a gooseneck hitch in a little truck I have apicture of my old subaru parked in frony of an 8 foot plow that looks pretty convincing
