Haven't got much hunting in the past couple of years...been in the process of moving and new jobs, so it has just been a bit hectic. But when I used to live in South Dakota, I enjoyed some outstanding pheasant hunting.

And the waterfowl hunting was, in my opinion, underrated in South Dakota...lots of ducks around. Mallard and Blue Wing Teal:

There are quite a few ducks and a lot of geese where I live now (south central Nebraska), and a lot of wild turkey. And we bought a place with 8 acres that borders a creek, and my game camera spotted this deep in the back of our yard:

I've also spotted plenty of the wild turkey in the back of the yard, and some ducks nesting near the creek in the back of the yard. So...plenty of opportunities. Just need to get out and do it this next coming fall...

Are hogs native to Sweden?

That's what I was wondering. Are they called Russian Boar there, or are they some other type of hog? Where they always there or where they let loose or escaped from farms like they where here?

SWEBOTA will know for sure but I have one map that says they have been reintroduced to southern Sweden. Apparently the land connection through Finland is too far north for them to get their by themselves.

They are just called Wild Pigs or wild boar (Sus scrofa). They were native for thousands of years but were extinct for 200 years until re-introduced by mistake by animals escaping from enclosures. Now there are more than 200.000 in the southern part of the country and they are a real nuisance for farmers. They can be hunted in unlimited numbers. They don't like really deep snow so won't go far north.

Wild pigs are real problem in Czech Republic also. They decimated pheasant, quail and rabbit population. They can be shot in unlimited numbers, day or night by any means.

I went hunting (ducks on a game farm) first time about 25 years ago. It was not fun, it was just plain killing more than hundred ducks in about one hour by our party. I shot about 50 shells and don't even know if I hit any. Have not touch a gun until today. So yesterday my son who is avid hunter asked me to buy hunting license and turkey tag and join him today for a turkey hunt on our land. The weather was nasty raining with temperatures just above freezing, I didn't have the right clothes and boots so I was f....ing cold there. But for some reason I really enjoyed to be there, listening to nature waking up, birds starting singing when the sun came up, watching two white tail does to come within 50 yards from us. We saw several turkey hens to come very close and heard two and actually saw one gobbler. We didn't shoot anything but I think I will try hunting one more time. There are three days left on my tag. So I borrowed son's benelli, day pack, binocular and turkey call. I will practice turkey call tomorrow and I will be on the same spot again Monday morning.
