So... why are the headlights in the front?

Some things to think about here:
1) Mount light hanging down from ROPS so as to provide some protection to the fixture from tree limbs, etc.
2) Splice into the wires going to one of the headlights with a new cable.
3) Take plenty of time in feeding that cable such that it will be shielded from abuse or catching on anything.
4) Your headlight fuse may need to be larger to handle the extra load. You could just try it and if the fuse blows, buy a bigger one.
5) Consider a switch for some circumstance where you would want to turn off the new light while the headlights were still on.
6) The ROPS light may need to rotate or be pointable.

1*Better yet mount them to the back of the bar not on top or under it.
2*Don't tie them into the headlights.Connect them to a key on position of the Ign. switch.

4*Don't increase the fuse size on an overloaded wire.
5*I prefer a seperate switch for each lite.
6*A magnet / light bar is ideal for this.

I mounted my lights this past weekend. I bought 2 35w floods from a local dealer for $15 a piece. The magnets and other stuff probably ran another $20. I got floods instead of trapazoid becasue I don't need to see what is 100 feet ahead of me. The tractor only goes 8 mph. I hooked them up using the extra line Kubota provides under the seat. Thhey work great! One facing forward, the other rear. The magnets held them on the ROPS very well (no wiggling or sliding). However, I did hit a low lying branch. Magnetics once again did there job (light popped off and dangled). Slapped it abck on and I was back in business.

I washed and serviced the DX over the weekend. Looking over the wiring harness, there is a 2 wire plug for the 4 headlights right on the firewall. It seems a guy could just tap in there, disconnecting the headlights and run a line to power lights on a bar mounted to the uprights of the loader frame. Not the subframe mounted to the tractor but the part that goes with the loader when you take it off. Then, with the loader on, run the lights mounted just in front of the operator. With the loader off, run the headlights.

Try this thread. Powersho[ is the one who I originally got the idea from. My only word of caution would be not to use the lights you can buy at Harbor Freight. I bought a set and the beam pattern was not good. An extra $15 from a dealer and my new floods have a nice even, bright pattern with only 35watts. I didn't want to draw to much current.
