I'm not sure why this OLD thread was dredged up..but it was a response to a tongue in cheek post from another thread...so don't take the title too seriously!

Heck Roy, I didn't 'dredge' it, merely added to the comments.

Never forget your posts (and words of wisdom....) are forever or until the site no longer exists.....

So true. I'd reached the final perfect combination of Kubota tractors several times and proclaimed I was done trading several times and some of my "friends":D would remember my earlier declarations of no more trades when I'd trade again.:laughing:

Not me. I'm done buying tractors. 2 large frame Kubotas with no payment books in this floundering economy is a very good thing. Incidentals are fine, even engine work, but. no payments on depreciating tractors anymore....

I cringed buying a new square bailer last summer. Of course my old one was 40 years old so it was time. This one will outlast me. I ain't living to a hundred......:)

I actually sold my old one (NH Hayliner 66) to a retired doctor with a couple acres and a nag to feed. He was happy, I was happy and he got the original, in the manila pouch, owners manual, probably worth more than the bailer was, though it bailed just fine actually. Slower than paint drying on a barn, but consistent and a narrow pickup. My new NH 575 is a Cadillac. The price was Cadillac too.

ME TO!!!! Well, I've got 5 Kubotas with 4 payment books (actually auto withdrawal) and saving my tiring body from hard labor and can sell them for more than I owe for them, a lot more, and they are depreciating very little each day. Less than the increase in equity based on the payments I'm making. Will have no payments in a couple of years because I ain't buying no more:D:laughing: unless I want to build up even more equity. You know Gold and tractors are great investments.;) Plus I have made MANY people happy by passing along my used tractors and I do like making people happy, like you did.

The reasons I bought a Kubota and not Deere are many and varied, I may get flamed or banned, but who cares. I have worked with large and small equipment for many, many years as a Mechanic, and hands down I will choose a Kubota diesel over any Deere any time. We have new skid steers form JD we have replaced 3 engines out of 12 units so far, we have 30 new Bobcats with Kubota's, 0 engine failures. I have worked on JD backhoes, skids, graders, scrapers, excavators for the better part of 20 years. Are they complete junk, no. But they have had many issues over and over that cost lots of $$$ when they fail and JD just keeps producing the same crap, why because there money is in service and parts. And because the box that the parts come in is green or yellow it costs twice as much as another part made by the same vendor without the green box. Also John Deere the man never made a tractor, the company later on started marketing tractors under their brand (made by someone else) long before they started making some items on there own. They still do, in ag equipment and construction, do they farm everything out ,no, but a majority of their product lines(or large assemblies) are made over borders and overseas, most of their engines (the JD ones not the Yanmars) are produced and assembled in South America. So I really have a hard time when someone says, they buy a Deere to support Americans, with an American made machine, holding my tongue. My Father -in-law was the same way, he bought his in 2005, I asked him why he decided to buy a Deere, he said because I wanted a Deere, I said ok, but why? and he said the same thing again. He could not come up with a reason other than it was a Deere. I said well did you like this tractor over that one because of ergonomics, engine, ease of use etc? No he bought it just to have a Deere. If you bought a Deere because you shopped around and you liked the Deere because of price, dealer, service, engine, transmission, ergonomics, past ownership, or it just felt good then fine buy one and be happy. But just to buy it because it's green, dumb. I have been around Harleys all my life, I will not buy one, why? they are overpriced junk. They leak, have lots of small issues, and they charge way too much for parts with the little eagle on the box. I bought My MX4700 because it had the same engine as most of the skid steers and other equipment I have worked on over the years and is dame near bullet proof, are there issues, sure but most are lack of proper maint, and using poor oils, fuels etc. I don't "bleed" any color I buy what works, regardless of who's sticker is on the hood.

Paragraphing a post actually makes it a better read.

I agree with your observations. I hauled JD tractors for many years so I too, know what lurks 'under the hood' and JD parts are more expensive to the end user. I buy JD parts too as I own some green equipment.
