soap stone woodstoves?

I have an extra large dutch west with a catalytic converter. It is 4 years old and I have never cleaned or replaced the converter. The stove did take a while to get used to but now I would never change it. I can keep a fire going 12 hours and the coals last longer.

Pete,
went to look at the Hearthstone stoves tonight. They look real nice. The one we looked at was the homestead. Good price, good looks, small enugh so as not to take up a lot of room, but big enugh to put off some heat. We are still looking, but we are leaning toward this one. Any problem with yours? Would you buy anouther? Thanks.

We got the Phoenix model as it was the largest that would fit into our fireplace. My dislikes are (1) it doesn't draw as well as others, but once I gave up and used a bit of firestarter it did just fine, and (2) the ashpan has no back so it's very easy to dump hot ash and coals on your floor./w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif I get around this by using a shovel and ash bucket instead of the dustpan looking stock unit.

Do I like the stove? Absolutely! I love the heat sink of all that stone. And I love the way you can remove a few fire bricks to access the exhaust stack; it sure makes chimney care a breeze! Run a brush down the pipe from the roofline. Open the stove, remove two bricks, stick a shopvac nozzle inside and suck up all the black stuff. Easy!

And yes, the next stove will be a Hearthstone unless someone comes up with a way better product before then!

Cool. Thanks. The price is right, so I think I may go that route.

Ya, the soap stone ones are a little more pricy. But they look nice. And the wife likes them

This is the one I think we will be going with. Seems to fit all our needs.
