Tractor
McCormick CT28V 2010
Transplanted from Atlanta to create soccer club. A real rookie tractor owner. Have 21 acres that needs alot of work. Never lived in rural area. I purchased a McCormick CT28V last year to develop the land. I have been extremely happy with the tractor. I have had only two issues. One the front end loader broke off the first time I used it. Went to the dealer, he said he would have to order. Nine months later when I was in to purchase something else, he gave me a control arm that did not fit.
I have been using vice grips to control the bucket. Need to purchase one, but I am having a problem finding an internet source for parts. Any suggestions?

My other issue is the seat. I am retire military and federal agency. Have body issues from service. Need to find a really good seat.

I can live without the control arm and seat, although I really don't want to. Need to find source of parts, Oil, oil filter, fuel filter, etc. Where can I go to find these.

A new issue is that I am having problems with drive train. Have enough power to progress on present project, but have lost power to harrow or use bush hog. Is this the clutch or something else. I have put 556 hours on in less than a year, is this normal wear and tear?

A rookie needs Help

Welcome to TBN. I have no advice as to your tractor question just wanted to say welcome from a soccer Dad. I have a daughter that eats, sleeps, and breathes soccer. I have learned to love the sport.

That is great to hear. Hope she is with a good club. If not get her in one. Clubs play all year and have trained licensed coaches.

She just started with a club that has credentialed coaches. In addition all coaches must have playing experience.

There are 6 McCormick dealers in Georgia. One of them should be able to help. Hays Tractor in Mansfield has some decent folks there. A short long way from your house but telephone and UPS might work if you are just looking for parts. Some equipment just does not have internet sources for. I just go by my local JD store to get filters. I buy Shell Rotella synthetic, Mobil Truck and SUV deisel synthetic or Delvac synthetic at the local store.

Map show 3 dealers less than an hour from your house.

What size bushhog? Some bushhogs will work fine with 24 PTO HP and others will not. 5 foot mower is the biggest your tractor probably can handle. It also depends on how tall the grass is you are mowing and how fast you go. On my tractor I am in 5th and 6th out of 9 gears. If I am mowing thick stuff I have to slow down. That means 4-5 mph on the speed chart on my fender. 3 or less in thick grass. Horses keep things eaten down which is how I can go fast most of the time. Mowers can be set high in front and low in back that can affect HP required. Dirty air filter or clogged fuel filters can reduce power.

556 hours is low hours. I have a less hours on my little tractor but I have changed out fuel filters twice in 13 years. On my diesel car I have changed the fuel filter 3 or 4 times in 280,000 miles. I am slack on the filter change intervals on the car. Never had a clogged filter issues in the car but I have with the tractor. Same fuel stations. I know I need to change filters when I cannot see them through the clear plastic bowl and I lose power.

Thanks, would fuel filters or air filter cause the problem with the movement. I have changed the air filter out once already. How often do you recommend fuel, air, oil filter change out?

My tractor moves with a clogged fuel filter but it certain will not make the HP to work. My JD tractor actually has two fuel filters. One under the fuel tank and one by the injection pump. It has clear or opaque bowls. If I cannot see the filter it has to be changed. Even if I can see the filter it may need to be changed. My owners manual has change fuel filter listed at the 200 hour service. What does your owners manual say?

I have replaced the oil, fuel, and air filter with very little success. On the control on top of the fuel filter, it has air, off, on. What is the air for? I would guess that it is for blowing out the line? But I don't know the direction I am blowing. I don't want to blow debris into the carb.
