Soil conditions

I've been told that at one time Florida was under water, that's why there is so much sand,......ok I can accept that but why then is some areas more sandy than others?

My vacant property is white sand and nothing but, my home in Brandon is nice black soil, hard to believe they trucked in millions of pounds of sand for all the housing developments in FL.

Can someone explain this?

I would assume tides and water currents would deposit sand and soil in varying manners. It's the same here on my 80 acres. I have patches of exposed basaltic lava bedrock and places where the soil is greater than 15 feet deep. Those who know, say it's due to the multiple and gigantic out flow from ancient Lake Missoula. It's what created this area that I live in - the Channeled Scablands.
