Despite the bad weather forecast, we drove 5 hours up to Erie PA.

Didn't look good 10 minutes before it began:

2 minutes before, we began to think we might have a shot:

The clouds parted just before totality and we were rewarded with a near perfect view!

Miracles happen!

First two were taken with an iPhone Xs. The others with a Panasonic DMC FZ70.

If I want to send somebody a picture I take it with my company iPhone, then text it to my personal Android. I've been looking for a stand alone camera with better quality.

I'm not against people making money.
I'm against people gouging.
Some people had booked rooms a year or more in advance at regular rates only to have them cancelled and rebooked at outrageous prices. A $200 room for over $1K.
I know one of the major motels even cleared their employee parking to put in tourist for a $100 a shot for what they usually charge $20.
The whole Falls is an overpriced tourist trap and then they do this?
And even so, what is/was the big deal?
A solar shadow?

I took mine with the Android. Samsing A10e, a low end model.

3M transparency sheet. To achieve higher than 14, you must fold it in half. Tested on the lumen meter at work too.

We were in totality. Was supposed to be bad viewing due to weather. It was partly cloudly. At eclipse time the clouds and sun were apart, so we saw the whole thing

Had visitors in town and they had glasses. Otherwise, I wouldn't have bothered to look.

It got dusk-dark. Temp was noticeably cooler.

A few hours later the thunderstorms began. Thus, Eclipses cause thunderstorms. Science!

This was with my Android at full eclipse. I thought about using my company iphone as it takes better pictures, but with my luck would have ruined it..

Glad to hear that so many were able to see this very rare event! It was great here, and even the few skeptics that we hosted were in awe and very glad they arranged to see it. It was cloudy the day before and the several days after, so we got lucky!!

If you were able to see the total eclipse, you'll always remember where you were during the 2024 eclipse.

Texting is a good way to transfer pics between phones. You can also use email to transfer them to a PC.

A smartphone is a great way to share pics with others by texting or simply showing them to others. Transferring pics from a standalone camera to a phone is a bit more complicated and usually involves a PC or laptop.

I use phone link to transfer from my Android to my windows laptop.

Apple Airdrop works great between Apple devices.

You can get digital cameras with wifi and bluetooth that work great for transferring, too.
