...The county will be on the hook for disposing of defective panels, cleaning up the site after the twenty year lease is up and not renewed, firefighting equipment and training, road repair, and several other things....
Why would the county be on the hook for equipment installed on private property?

I object!

This isn't a crusade for the environment. It is a profit making venture for a company based in Denmark. EVERYTHING used in this facility will be made in China. There will be 270,000 panels and many, many battery storage units. All made in China.

That is grotesque

When you till up the topsoil and add Portland Cement to 'stabilize' it there is nothing environmental about it. Clearcut an area roughly two miles by one mile and level it?? You will destroy habitat for deer, turkey, rabbit, groundhog, fox, raccoon, opossum, skunk, quail, songbirds, and even the coyote. This is not about the environment, it is about cash.

You are correct about making profit, but having emotional teenagers or adults who never grew up supporting this do all the dirty work for the solar panel companies.
In other words, the environmental whackos are “useful idiots” for them.

So you are against clearcutting then? well, then how much land has been clear-cut in the timber industry or for agriculture? I’m sure a lot of the bunnies are sad for those two purposes.

The company is leasing the land from the farmers, did not want to outright buy it. After reading the results of several multi-million dollar lawsuits we are convinced that the company is setting up the land owners to take the fall when the inevitable lawsuits occur. And the people doing this are too greedy or too ignorant to realize this.

Absolute rat bastards.

The street views of a 199 acre site, about 1/2 on each side of the road. BTW, the site was turned down by zoning and dept of the environment but still got “approvals”

We're having fun here in Maine; if you're curious, look up the New England Clean Energy Connect corridor. It would bring power from Canada to Massachusetts, right through the heart of Maine.

There was a State Referendum to kill the project, it passed, and it's still being shoved down our throats. Grease the right palms and we the people can get f'ked.

We have to keep reminding ourselves that this is a religious crusade to them. They will NOT STOP, even if it’s proven to be much less effective at producing energy and VERY polluting.
Religious Crusade defines the situation perfectly. You have hit the nail on the head. Wind farmers are same religion, different sect. Electric car folks are in there too. Though, I can see a use for them. My mother relies heavily on an electric golf cart. She can't do what she does without it. And, right now it's down. Seems the pedal switch is out.

I don’t understand your point. We have sold timber twice and they have only cut certain species. You couldn’t give some species to the lumber people. And, as I understand, if clearcutting does take place they immediately plant wanted species. This outfit will clear cut everything off the land, burn it, then mix cement with the dirt to prevent erosion. This is all prime farmland. Not scrub land.

You don’t understand my point because you only see your point. You use environmental damage in support of your argument but fail to mention that farming has an environmental impact also. Either you are unhappy that you are not getting any financial gain in this project or you are jealous of your neighbors good fortune.

There aren’t many options to farming. We all have to eat.

As far as clear cutting goes, that is regulated beyond comprehension if it is even allowed and has been for close to 50 years. Land is re-forested. We are cutting timber that man planted decades ago.

Plenty of options to forced, chinese made solar panels though.
