NH TC 35 had, now a TC35DA LS25 lawnmower
Anybody have any suggestions on the way I've got this tied down? I think I know what I'm doing, but maybe someone else has a better way. I don't need a trip like Dargo ya know. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hey..

Wow thats confusing!

All you need to do, is tie down each corner of the tractor (axles) to the corners of the trailer. Id put the auger in the bucket and curl it down. I wouldnt tie down the boxblade since its wedged between the tractor and the bucket.

RSC around here just runs a chain through one side to the other going through the tractor. They just use two binders, one for the front and one for the backl.

I don't know that laws in your state but in NY we are required to bind opposite corners with a ratachet binder and at least 1/4" GR 70 chain.
PS: Like the right front corner of the tractor to the left front corner of the trailer.

John,

I don't have any experience with this subject, so I will just throw this out as a thought...

In my mind the tractor should be tied town with four chains, and then the implements should be secured with additional chains.

It seems like from what I can see in your photos that you are doing double duty with your chains. They are both holding the tractor and the implements...

I would not be comfortable doing this myself...but it could just be because I don't know better.

I would probably use four chains for the tractor, each which would go directly to tie points on the trailer, and additional chains to hold the implements.

My worry would be as you have the tractor chained down, with the chains running over the implements, that this could give additional opportunity to slack to develop in the chains as time passed when you were on the road...

I second what HENRO said... also nice touch with the bungee cords on the ratchet.

If you get there... all the chains and work may be overkill.
BUT if you didn't... it only takes one scary ride to make you a believer.... You don't have too many chains on, and I was trying to figure out, with the way you are loaded up, how to get the four corners down to the sides of the trailer...

Does anyone think that cross chaining, like the safety chains for the hitch, on each side would help...

Pete.

Deerlope,

Do you know where I can find the NY laws on towing/securing loads. I am not familiar with your statement on opposite securing of the load and could not find anything on the NYS DMV site on securing anything.

Thanks,
