Well, from reading your replies, ya don't like my 30 minute rake, thats how long it took me to make it. And picture how strong a tool like this would have to be to dig in beach sand. We live in Florida and its nothing but a big sandbar with houses on it. Digging here is a whizz, we have these little sand spur things that have sharp thorns all around them and they are smaller than a pea and they stick to everything. It works great on them. And its 5/8 HSS re-bar not 1" and they only hang down about 6 inches. So far so good. And with my other 10 foot extension it would make a good pond rake, J_J mentioned that when he stopped by.

Pond rake? I look forward to seeing you in the stuck and troubled section. (just kidding)

Here's a through the pipe version. The rods were 1-1/8" grade 8 bolts used to hold light poles down. I hooked the rake to my bulldozer and it worked well until it hit stumps.

You will have to forgive us Midwesterners who have HEAVY Clay soils that on a dry day would snap the welds the minute you attempted to get it worked in the (Concrete) soil. Then on Moist days the rebar would easily dissapear with a little down pressure , but again would snap the minute the tractor was put in gear. Then there are also Rocks/Boulders to contend with also.

I was not thinking about that SOFT sand that you have to play with.

We just are in the mind set of how things need to be built to survive here in the midwest. I guess when we see things that are built a little lighter, we think about how long it will hold up in our conditions. No doubt in sand the Rebar/Welds will probably hold for some time.

deerhunterf350, I lived in Maine for 33 years and there is no way I would do this in Maine, but in Florida, it's like digging at the sand beach. The soil here is real different. Thanks for the reply
I have played with this Hmm rake here and its great.
