bczoom, if it was your neighbors house you are good to go. You can shoot of your own back porch if you want, you own it.

However, be sure your wife knows what ou are about to do.
I was living in a mobile home on a farm in Oklahoma 30 years ago. I was standing in the front door and fired a 20 GA shotgun at something. What I failed to notice was that my wife had a pot of green peas in her hand when I fired. Cleaning green pea stains off the ceiling is not fun.

As much as possible, I let her know (actually, for targets, I prefer to do when she and the kids are gone). The one building is remote so I can't always but the noise isn't as bad.

My pet peeve also - I love the dark and the night sounds out here, but an awful lot of people (including one next-door neighbor) put up those blasted mercury or sodium vapor lamps that light up a whole acre like noon day. Why???

The distance is to a dwelling. Of course if the neighbor doesnt care I wouldnt worry about it.

Birdhunter; I've got a guy at the other end of the road upnorth that came from one of the Detroit burbs. He really sticks out since he's the only one with a treeless manicured field by his own choosing. We also have bears, would you beleive this guy actually got all bent out of shape because one of the evil bears took a dump on HIS property? Further proof that it really does take all kinds. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

When I first bought my property The "country" neighbor had built a deer stand on the limbs on his tree that were actually overhanging on my property (his only view was my field). He cut down one of my trees so he could get a good shot. I put up no hunting signs but found fresh shells on my property (not even close to the tree). I confronted the owner, showed him the shells and he started stammering something about letting some else hunt on his land. Maybe, maybe not, but he sold his inherited land and the new neighbors, who are city people, shoot the other way and are much more polite.
And yes I will be wearing a orange vest starting this weekend.
