My wife can't stand the smell when I ran the conventional T-4 in the Cummins the breather tube vapor does have a smell for at least 1000 miles. Have not noticed it "as much" running the T-6 synthetic in my truck but the wife still does.So when I did my 50 hour service this summer, I put in Valvoline 10w30 conventional motor oil. This weekend, I decided to switch over to Rotella T6 full synthetic 5W40. Let me tell ya, I could barely stand to smell the thing running it stunk so bad.
I have to use Delo or Delvac in her Cummins powered Ram. She hates the Shell smell that much.
Worst smelling oil for me is when a friend blew up 3 different engines when we were kids spinning rod bearings then punching holes in the blocks when rods broke. There is a real 'Special' smell when dirty oil gets cooked leading to total destruction.
