I have often wondered how a Shelter Logic frame would work if the old worn out tarp was replaced with metal roofing.

That's what this one is. I wish I'd thought to put a sacrificial tarp over it when I first got it, the tag with the model # is so faded I can't read it to order another factory cover. I have been tarping it (with the original cover still in place) for the last 8 years or so. The original cover lasted 5 years or so before it started to fray.

We're fairly well protected from wind, just using the screw anchors it came with. Anchor wire on one corner (the one that ties the frame to the anchor) broke in an unusually strong gust of wind last fall, but that's the only issue I've had. I'm sure that wire was rusted and weak when it broke. Anchor itself didn't budge.

Someday when I'm rich I might do something better, but this seems to do the job for now.
That's about what happened to mine as well to the first two.

You can just call them 1-800-560-8383. If you can get the size, they can probably make you a new cover, upgrading the cover costs more, but so far, it seems worth it here.

@Jstpssng I've seen folks who have done that. If you don't have animals (e.g. cows/horses), I think that it would work.

All the best,

Peter

I want a new pancreas,
In lieu of that a separate shop would be nice.

Putting the kid through college nixing any shop or new (used) truck for a while though.
College takes away a lot more money than people realize. Even though my kids were partial scholarships, my wife and I spent thousands on travel to go see them play in far away places.
College expenses are staggering and should not be underestimated in “scope creep” for other unforseen expenses.

Another day on the lake fishing with my Dad.
I can throw $100 out the window and make it back tomorrow. I can't throw a day out the window and make it back tomorrow.

This summer I plan on going to the Cabin a lot more with my dad. I'm going to buy a fishing licence and fish the river with him. I haven't fished in 25 years, I use to do it all the time with him.

I don't need anymore money.

Yup. Time is a priceless thing, and good times with family even more so.

Have fun!

If you ever want to get really depressed, start counting your life in the number of "good summers" you have left. Less than 20? Less than 10?

I'm 50 and before kids, used to enjoy competitively racing high-performance sailing dinghies. I have maybe another 10 - 15 years where I could even do that at all, but honestly, most guys age out of my class and into something slower in their mid-50's.

I've been away from the sport 15 years now, since it's hard to blow off the family for the 6-8 hours that sport requires every Saturday.

I recall a YT channel called, Deep South Homestead. It was very popular up till 2022. The host Danny did just that, counted the number of summers he could go outside to work the homestead. Back then it was 10 or 12 if he really pushed it.

Daily I meet the early morning surgery patients with about a third here for cataract surgery.

Amazing some of the 80 and 90 year olds I meet… full of life, spry and sharp here for a vision tune up.

I also starting to see patients younger than me, some I went to school with, who look and act 90 carrying zip lock bags of meds…

In general the happily married senior men most often are in the best shape as is their spouse followed by active widows with very good friends and family coming in with them.

One thing I noticed is most of the fit seniors tend to be on the smaller size when it comes to stature… not many 6’ plus in the older categories.

Last week had a well dressed couple married 70+ years come in for the wife’s eye surgery… guessing about 5’3” height for both with family origins the Azores… they came in hand in hand and spry and sharp…

Spoke to the husband and they married at 18 and never looked back… never spent a night apart except his military service…

Been told many times your health is your wealth.
