Son is buying a Bobcat, advice?

My neighbor had a 753 Bobcat. It is kind of the John Deere B of skidsteers - practical, reliable, and they made a million of them.

Bobcat skidsteers 743-753-763 all run Kubota diesel engines. Just different horsepower.

$900 is a deal. If it's a complete basket case, selling parts and scrapping the rest would get his money back and then some.

As everyone said a steal. I assume(?) it operates ok...just a bad hydraulic leak?
Maybe a good pressure wash and leak will be obvious. Wouldn't it be great if something simple like a blown hose?

Sounds like with the price he's getting it for, he could dump a couple grand into it and still be money ahead. I understand that they can be labor intensive--mainly due to touch access to some components, but unless the hydraulic leak is from a failed or cracked case of a major component, it should be a worthwhile project...and glad your son is now on TbN!

The "if it's too good to be true" thing would make me leery that this is a stolen machine. That price is way too low to be legit IMO. I hope it's real for his sake, but I'd be skeptical.

My thoughts exactly. I wouldn't trust that one.
