I'd sure agree with that .... my Sharp is an "original" as in before USB and Firewire became endemic.
I like the way it works ... but I had no way (other than copying to VHS/Beta) to do anything with the tapes. So ... I found a fantasic deal on a Samsung dv camcorder last month and snapped it up ... just to be able to get Firewire connectivity. I now have 10 hours of dv stored on the external HD's (I found a great deal on those too .... now have over half a terabyte available ... /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif )
