Now I have that sinking feeling in my stomach. I ram my FEL with toothbar agressively into the soil a lot. I'm supposed to drop it off Sat. a.m. and they'll look at it Mon.

I wish - maybe it would help offset the cost of my sequential dumb *ss attacks. I could host a course on how NOT to treat one's tractor, maybe theres a few bucks in that too. Wow, I'm almost to the $1700!

I was trying to lighten the moment with a bit of humor...

A long time ago, someone posted a pic of a homemade transmission oil filter protector that bolted to the frame and covered the filter. I think I saved a pic of that somewhere and probably will dig that out for my BX. It was basically a piece of metal pipe that went over the filter

If you have a skid plate, it's probably not needed, but this one looked easy to build.

Hey, that's slick. The creative ingenuity of individuals here is amazing. The tractor manufacturers could borrow so many ideas if they just paid attention.

Update on my hydeo leak down under: It took just over a gallon of UDT to get the level back to the top of the stick yesterday. I quickly drove up onto the trailer and shut down. When I stopped, fluid was pouring down from the front and back of the little shield beneath the floorboard. In both places, it was flowing faster than i can p**. The svc. mgr didn't even want me to drive the tractor into the svc. bay. I backed the trailer in and he lifted the BX with his gantried hoist. He thinks the fluid is coming from the power steering which is, of course, tied in to the hydro system. Just hope I didn't let the level drop low enough to do internal damage. We shall see.

That's nice VF. BTW, guess all you Vol fans were pretty proud of your alumnus #18 this past Feb. He's amazing, got the right attitude and work ethic. His papa taught him well.

Thanks crbr - life is short, you're right. I learned another lesson during all of this - I miss my tractor!
I had to mow with a generic lawn "tractor" - now I know why I got my Kubota!

Well, for the other BX with all the UDT leaks, I got the word Tue. that they were replacing the main hose to the loader. When that one came in and was installed they cranked it up and as the svc. mgr. said, "it was spewing fluid everywhere from large holes in both power steering lines under the floorboard." So we're waiting for those lines to come in Mon. It's still to be seen whether tranny was damaged from low fluid. I still don't get how I could use it all day on a Sat. and have no leaks, then crank up 3 weeks later and have the thing looking like a fire truck. Really baffling.
