Just joined. I was looking at saw chain sharpening tips, and saw this site. I have a JD GT 245 garden tractor with a 54C deck, and a JD 1023E utility tractor with loader and 60" deck. Do most of the mowing with the 245, it is more maneuverable around trees, and use the 1023 mostly for the loader cutting and hauling firewood. I use a Stihl 026 I've had for years for cutting. I've sharpened by hand for years, but finally broke down and bought a Northern Power electric sharpener, looks like a copy of the Oregon. Can't seem to get the settings quite right , the chains aren't as sharp as I can do by hand.

deerseeker001- I've got the angles set according to the recommendations in the literature that came with the chain-30 degrees on the cutter angle, and 75 degrees on the grinding wheel angle. The literature that came with the sharpener recommended 60 degrees for the grinding wheel angle, but thought it wiser to go with the Stihl angle. The chain cuts, but not very fast, and pretty fine sawdust, not the nice chips a sharp chain can make.
