JD 4110
I posted this also in the attachment forum.

I know that some were wondering if the standard SpeeCo PHD would work on the JD 2210. I finally had time Friday to put it together and try it. I had to use the farthest hole and got 6" of clearance. I also found a spot that had not frozen to bad and was able to dig a 12" hole in about 5 minutes through gravel soil. Now I just need to weld up a frame to hole this baby.

Bob,

What frame do you have to weld up to hold this? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

JD...I meant a frame so that it doesn't lay on the ground when unhooked. It looks like it's going to be a bear to put on now that it is all together. Like a two person job. This weekend if I get time I am going to build a frame...or a stand to hold it so I can back up to it.

I saw one in Mills Fleet Farm and wondered the same if it would work on my 2210. What did you pay? Did you get a standard auger or a short one?

Bob, I'm not sure if you are inclined to spend some more money, however, I will happily spend your money for you. Buy yourself a Pat's Easy Change system for your tractor.

I use a couple different tractors and can easily endorse Pat's system. I use one on my TC24 and find that it is actually simple to mount the PHD by myself in just a coupe of minutes. I leave the PHD laying on the ground with a 12" auger bit it in. The locking hooks on the Pat's system simply let me lock the lower pins in place in a couple seconds and the roll the PHD up to attach the top pin. I thought about a stand, but found it really was unnecessary.

There are extendable lower links with the traditional ball joints on the ends of the arms on the Kubota B2910 so I didn't buy the Pat's system for that tractor, I find that hooking up the PHD to the B2910 is much harder than the TC24 simply because of Pat's system. I find the PHD is now almost exclusively used with the TC because of ease of hook up.

Pat's is also the only "quick hitch" system I know of that will work with a Post Hole Digger. And a nice thing about Pat's is that you can buy it right here on TBN and support your favorite website (or at least your favorite website that doesn't have girly pictures).

JD Fanatic, I will post pics when I get time to build it. There is so much to do around here right now I am not sure when it will get done.

megotractor, I picked this up at farm fleet the total cost including tax with the 12 inch auger was $559.66.

Bob, good luck...I don't think the wife is going to let me near the check book for awhile. If it wasn't for the 200+ trees we have coming I doubt she would have went for this purchase. We still have a lot to buy for the log home and such.....I have a quick hitch and I know what you mean them not working with the phd. I am sure your right about pat's system being the way to go. How do you set yours so you can get to the pins though? I guess I can't see it in my head. Are you taking the handle off and laying it some how so the output shaft is tucked back????...no come to think of it that won't work either...I don't think. Anyway can you post pics of how you have it laying when you go to hook it up?

I have not coughed up the money for the Pats yet, but it is probably coming in the near future, the wife just needs to hook the box blade up about 3 more times by itself and she will hand me the money to get the Pats /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Anyway, Pats or not, I would like a frame to hold my PHD. We have done it a couple of different ways so far, but everything so far has been a bear and at risk of pinched fingers.

I am picturing a 4 legged frame with chains or such dangling down and maybe some clevis's or pin points of some type welded too the top of the boom pole on the PHD. Back into the frame, hook two chains too the PHD boom pole, lower PHD to where the weight is supported by the frame, then detatch.

With the amount we use and change this instrument (wife is a landscaper) and that she does it by herself, I want to make it as easy and as least likely to pinch as possible.

Has anyone made / seen or maybe more have a picture of, something like this?

I also want it to where I can throw it on the trailer as a unit to bring it too the jobsite easily.

Currently we are tying it off too a tree or post, then backing up too it and hooking up.

Mine is laying on it's side right now and I am dreading hooking it back up by myself. I hope to get a chance this weekend to build something. If I do get around to building something that works I will let you guys know.

I'm glad your system is working for you but 6" of clearance seems to be subject to interpretation as to whether the PHD fits or not. Hopefully you will be using it on level ground. Be safe and keep some clean drawers handy. Thats really putting a 2210 to the test for sure.
