Speedometer/Tachometer Not Working

I to have a bad tachometer on my M.F. and the info you provided has given me all I need to dig in. I do know that mechanical tacks are very accurate but they make terrible hr. meters due to the rpm variations when motor is running. If you want accurate you can install an ignition switch run electric one under the hood and it will only work when the key is on. They are also cheep to buy.
