Re: Spencer\'s Pole Barn Project

And finally the side door is completed. I don't have any pictures from the outside of the barn yet, but I will take some soon.

I have all of the steel siding on my trailer inside the barn. Hopefully I will get started on that sometime next week.

That's really looking good; gonna be pretty plush for a "barn". /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif But at the time you were in this area, your daughter had a health problem. How's she doing now?

It's really looking good. You're putting in a lot of effort to cover the details and I like that.

What are you going to do now that you're not chasing your tail all around the country?

And I guess Bird and me will have to go up there to see you now, huh?

Spencer, first off great job on this project. It really looks terrific. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif I'm curious as to why you put plywood on the ceiling instead of drywall or something similar? How thick is the plywood? Are you planning to paint the ceiling so that it won't be so dark in the building?

Re: Spencer\'s Pole Barn Project

Looking good Spencer!!!! I remember when I put the front doors up, even though there wasn't any floor or anything around them, it still felt good. I think it is a psychological affect. I then remember after the floor was installed and putting the last door in and "drying" the garage in. That was a great day when I could actually "lock" it. Good luck and hang in there you'll get it.

I'm hanging lights in mine right now, so that I can come back later this spring and take them down and put something up on the ceiling. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Bird, we have had a few issues with her health since then, but at the moment everything is good.

Thanks for thinking of her.

Harv, I really don't know what I am going to do as far as earning an income goes. Finishing up my barn is my main priority right now. Once I get closer to getting the barn closed in I will start to worry about work. Being self-employed for so long I am not really suited to being an employee.

I still have quite a few frequent flyer miles to use up. My wife would go about anywhere where it was warm, so who knows maybe I'll be back in Texas some time.

The plywood is regular 1/2" cdx. I debated for a while on what I was going to use up there. I decided on plywood because I wanted to add some extra strength to the whole structure. I'm not a big fan of drywall anyway. Someday the plywood might get painted, but it is not a priority.

Jim, I can tell that you have 'been there, done that'. I can't wait until the day when I can just leave all my tools out and lock up the building. It takes so much time to get everything out and set up and then have to put everything away at the end of the night. I bet I spend at least 45 minutes each day doing that.

Good luck on the lights, I have been using a string of temporary lights like they use on construction sites. My string has 10 150-watt bulbs which has lit up the interior just fine.
