Quite the pissing match going on here! Its too bad, too, I read this hoping to get some info between a couple of low end welders. Instead, it's nothing but a big argument. My read on the whole thing: Mark brings objective points, and everyone else brings subjective opinions.

Anyone who still believes that anything is manufactured completely in this country has been living under a rock for more than a decade now. And is probably still holding on to prejudices from an earlier era when 'American Made' actually meant just that. Personally, I'll look at price, quality, and service before buying, not just a name.

Jeeze,,,did I ever tell you how good them miller welders are??

If you want to argue the point about where the money goes buying Chinese Made versus buying American Made, if you buy Chinese made, some of the money goes overseas. If you buy American Made, you pay 2 to three times as much and any of that extra above and beyond what you'd pay for the Chinese welder goes to the union bosses or big company executives, who then send the money to some off-shore account somewhere. Yea I'm a bit cynical, but think about this: 100% of government programs are paid for by foreign loans. 100% of the money you pay in taxes goes DIRECTLY overseas to repay those loans and the interest.

Well, just when I was thinking I was understanding this chinese verses american welders,by reading all this, you got me confused again... Well good thing I already got a couple good millers and they should last me the rest of my life and than some, cause I wouldn't know what to buy now:D

As long as Thermal Arc Was dragged into this tif, I have to say, We are pulling out of the Chinese Market and bringing the little 110v Stick Welders back home in New Hampshire for all of the reasons listed in this thread. TA is the preferred power Supply bought by Uncle Sam and Hundreds of units are in service in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Government buys our 400 amp Units and every Honda Powered Engine Drive we can ship them. We have a well known durable product with nothing to prove so keep us out of it. I have tried to sway peoples thinking on Inverters in this forum with no real bias. That is over after reading above. Sorry Mark...I say buy something with a track record or take your lumps.

Yomax,

That's great that will happen. Not meaning to pull TA into this, but they are in both China and malaysia, currently and have profited from it. That is the point being made. People can't give the other guys a free pass if they are doing the same thing our company has and grown and profited from it. What you did was prove the market with this little machines...now you expect to bring it home. I do hope it goes well... but there is stiff competition. I remember when thermal arc was a new kid on the block too... with the inverters and the bias it faced. I've actually recommended people buy TA products if we did not have something comparable, so I've sent plenty of money that way. I'll be interested to see how it all pans out for you.

Hey what happen to the post I put up here last night?

Why is posts disappearing in this thread?

Just to add some food for thought. The Internet has really leveled the playing field in a lot of ways. Sub standard items or service are relatively easy to expose. Just google something like "Everlast welder problem" and see what comes up. No company can quiet the Internet. So, even if (and I am in no way saying this is happening) were able to delete negative threads here, they would appear elsewhere as well.

How about this thread. Check out the post by JTFab, a former mod over at WW. everlast welders? He documents about "disappearing threads" after Everlast became a sponsor. I hope the same thing WONT happen here:mad:

Re: everlast welders?

Run and run far.

I used to be a Moderator on WeldingWeb.com....they have been TONS of problems with those welders and the company itself. Go to that website and look/ask around about Everlast....I don't have time to go into the amount of complaints I've heard/read.

Of course, since they became a paid sponsor of WW, they have their own forum there and have deleted most of the negative posts from their customers. Great customer service, eh?

Save your money and buy a name brand welder. You get what you pay for and you'd be better off burning your money than wasting it on one of those.

As i said its hard to find complaint threads as Everlast (and the other chinese importers) have bought the welding sections of most of the "homeowner" welding forums (and subsections of other ie:tractor forums) and as such can control the message.

This entire welding forum has evolved not into discussion by users, but rather an advertisement for importers to drum up sales for untested products. An internet search for guinea pigs to do the testing.. Folks that would ultimately be too embarrased to come back and post that they threw their hard earned dollars away in China.
When I see some of the "off brand" welders show up in the shops of people I respect for walkin' the walk and not just talkin' the talk, I'll certainly consider one.

Till then, my dollars go to products with a track record that I can judge by..

I agree, i have no problem with adds on the tops of pages, but direct selling to members by "owning" the forum is a little too hard to swallow.

I havn't noticed, are there disappearing posts? Well,if they are,its no wonder, being rude is a good way for that to happen, but, probably won't be long before this whole thread,"disappears":D

Hey what happen to the post I put up here last night?

Why is posts disappearing in this thread?

Yep, I read it so it existed at one time. It is not in your list of postings either. Strange.

Maybe both of these posts will disappear, too. Conspiracy theories are going to show up for sure.

I doubt that Everlast is deleting the threads since their own forum has negative feedback that is not deleted.
