Spent the day Chipping

I have a similar chipper made by Bush Hog (discontinued) that has the exhaust chute. It's great for chipping cedar and freshly cut postoak, but blackjack oak is pretty hard on it. The chute is really nice, but you definitely want to keep your distance from it when chipping. It throws chips at "lethal" speed./w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

Dave,

I'd love to get one of those. What do they normally go for? Also, what RPM does your tractor idle at while you are running the chipper? Thanks!

I spent close to $2300, but I didn't look around for the best deal. I bet it could be found for less. It is basically a Bearcat chipper, so you might save some $$$ under that label.

Running a chipper, definitely isn't a idle speed operation, the PTO needs to be at 540rpm, which for me is 2500 engine rpm.

Thanks.

I didn't mean idle per se. Yea, I guess that was a stupid question. It runs off the PTO and the PTO rpm is marked on the tach. Duh.
