That is a nice looking load of wood. 116 year old oak... Must have been a good sized one.

gg

I'll bet that it is (must be) a good size one . . .

Last fall at the Paul Bunyan EXPO, I bought a hook a roon and the next time I went to split wood, I put it on the splitter. When I got to where the rounds were, I got off my tractor and moved the splitter valve a little and there was a LOUD POP, my hook a roon had fell slightly out of sight and when the ram moved, it broke the head right off!! I didn't even get to use it one time! lol

BUT, as you can see, I re-hung the head,

I'm also now being a lot more careful where I put it!! lol

And, I used it today, as today was a wood splitting day, and I split quite a bit of wood, along with some bigger rounds,

as always, everything gets pushed through the 4-way,

This was the biggest round of the day,

To get it down to the size splits I wanted, it had to go through the 4-way, three times,

I'm going to have to cut some more, S:) :) N!

Pretty small time compared to some of you. I wish I had spent about $300 more and got a splitter that went both horizontal and vertical but for no more wood than I burn this works. I just have to use my end loader to put the big stuff on the splitter.

Big rounds like that, make HUGE amounts of firewood fast! AND, if you use some smarts and stage them, they are easy to roll up on the splitters beam too,

I like them...

I may never know what you have against a lift but I agree with the big round part. You can spend all day cutting and carrying little pieces and still not have any wood.

I tend to cut up small wood because all of the big hardwood is either sawlog material, or got sold for pulpwood when I first bought the place. I usually cut the smaller, shorter trees leaving the growing space for my healthier crop trees. One split with a maul, then I throw both pieces into the shed.

Or I bring in ends from harvest jobs, left behind after slashing hardwood logs.

Still too wet for the M; but for the T, it's just right.
The garden way cart gives me a little leg work, only 10 yards to the new stack.
That is not late snow in the first pic, just a little overexposed

I'm still splitting wood, as our weather has been pretty good, so I'm still filling half cord boxes, for next years heating season,
