I got mine from Northern tools a little over 20 years ago & it's vertical or horizontal, & I prefer vertical as I roll everything to the spliter & use my other tractor with a FEL to bring the rounds over & stack & I usually go thru 2 cords or more a year & all the wood is off my property. It's a bit slow but beats doing it manually.Yes, and I have a black 3PH splitter as well, maybe even the same brand - Back Diamond. However, I don't split wood that big. 2' is about the biggest I can get into the splitter, it can handle more but I can't. I only use wood for backyard campfires and for my smoker.
I've got about 1 cord split and stacked in a wood shed, it will last me for many years.
yepDoes anybody split wood this way anymore ? It's slow but steady , & I've been it this way for 20+ years.View attachment 727321View attachment 727321
home made. found a hydraulic pump in in the junk at work and started from there. everything is drops or scrap. only items purchased was cylinder, controls, hoses, and pto shaft. have a little over $400 in it. even the paint was going to be trashed. the pump came from a boom truck so is fairly high volume. it works pretty well. faster then tsc splitter my parents had. That's a interesting log splitter ! Never seen one that has it's own hydraulic tank, & works off the pto that probably splits wood allot quicker than working off the internal hydraulics with rear remotes like mine.View attachment 727441View attachment 727441
