My hats off to you, you saved a young life! I am not going to lambaste his team, but simply praise the savior. Where have all the heroes gone, nowhere, there just quietly driving their tractors! Way to go Pete! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Pete my hats off to you. I might also suggest calling your local newspaper as they are always looking for good stories and this has the making of a really GOOD one.

I get angry just thinking of the situation.

Me too, and that's what kept me from calling the local paper, etc. Afraid I might vent some real venom. I did, however, write to both the Dean and Associate Dean of this university expressing my extreme displeasure at this "initiation," and at the opportunity to demonstrate some leadership and care for ones' teammates they failed to capitalize on. What really rankles was the attitude that nobody was responsible, that all turned out well in the end so there was no problem.

Jeez, don't get me going!

Pete

That is when you might have just told them you were calling the news papers and TV. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif Dave

I agree! They might not be so eager to cover their students own fannies if they knew the news folks might pick up on the story and run with it.

I think they are covering their own fannies ! And they probably should be ! Dave

As we used to say in the army " you done good Pete". Your community should recognize you for helping someone who was in grave danger. You may have very well saved that young man's life. Thank you & your well trained dogs.

Wow, Boondox, that's quite the story. The kid is lucky your dogs went off. Our old girl is so blind and deaf, we might have never known the kid was out there. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

What his teammates did borders on a criminal act. Had that fellow died as a result of their actions and lack of concern, they would be facing criminal and civil penalties. If the school administration has any back bone, they will discharge all those that are responsible for this reckless action from the team. Being that schools value their reputation more than they value students, I doubt that much if anything will be done to the offenders and the fellow that was almost killed probably will have some negative action directed at him to get him out of the area. That way, they can protect their precious reputation because the person that can tell the truth will be gone. As a society, we have become way too complacent about behavior that is both dangerous and lacking of any moral judgment because we don't want to tarnish a reputation. My first call would have been to 911 for an ambulance and then to the State Police to report the incident. Then to the newspaper to make sure that it doesn't get buried. Colleges bury any negative incidents including but not limited to rape, theft, drugs, etc. just because they don't want to have a tarnished reputation. The way that they bury these problems is to sometimes dismiss both the criminal and the victim..... You as a good citizen of the community, in my opinion, have a obligation not to allow this to happen. Call the newspaper in the morning!!!!!!!
