TSC sells a 300# 3 pt spreader.

Is that pellet or powder? Not sure how powder form would spread. May even find a 3 pt spreader at a rental yard.

The TSC spreader, or similar, should work then, I have used mine for seed as small as clover and rape. Mounts right on your 3 point easy and is light enough to maneuver into the linkage easy.

It will work if I change lime to 60-69 those are the pellets they work slower then what I have now. All the ones on line are broadcast.

Check rental places, a lot of them have pull behinds for fertilizer/lime/seeds. They make for a quick easy job

As a matter of fact, when I was checking into renting one, the first place I went to had just put for sale signs on all their older pull behinds (They'd gotten in a lot of new ones).

So instead of renting one for $45 per day, I negotiated them down to $200 for a 5 footer. I've been using it for several years now and not had a minutes worth of problems with it.

You need a drop spreader. A spin spreader will not work with powdered lime and will break within moments. The material is simply too dense and compacted. Pelleted lime will usually work, however if you don't put too much in at a time. If your area is not too big you could put it down with a lawn drop spreader.

Here's a pic of an old and modern drop spreader, also called a "lime sower" by some.

Something like this should work well, I spread lime with it and it also worked for spreading seed. agree that Lime is expensive

Whatever you need for lime, do what the soil test says and don't cut back. Lime makes fertilizer works and chances are you need a lot of it. All things considered, it's cheap money spent if you want a good crop.

My soil test PH is 5.6 it called for 6 tons 80-89 lime or 60-69 8 tons. Now the spreed is a lost over now I have to deal with weeds! The whole field was covered what I have is

1 crossbow
2 2-4 do
Eraser
AS

What would be good to use??.

I think you got a great deal- can't find the paperwork but seems like i paid over $400 for less than half of that weight...

What type of weeds do you have?

2, 4-D is a broadleaf herbicide. Crossbow contains 2.4-D and triclopyr (which is more effective on brush) and is more expensive. Neither will kill grass. I had not heard of Eraser, but it is glyphosate (generic Roundup) and is thus non-selective (i.e., it will kill broad leaf plants and grass).

I really don't think you'll like the two behind that HomeDepot sells, not a very heavy duty unit, plus it only holds 175 pounds. I mistakenly called mine a tow behind, but after reading the later posts, it's a drop spreader, a Gandy to be specific. Large flotation wheels, good bearings, holds about 500 or so pounds

Here you go Steve I'm no weed expert but I can tell you this weed is a pain there everywhere.

Don't let those weeds go to seed. Not ever.

Use generic roundup--glyphosate--and buy at Rural King if one is nearby.Cheap and effectve. Kills all but marestail and nail that with 2,4-d.
