Spreading Stone, who else shakes it on?

EA is a sponsor of TBN. Messicks is a sponsor. Ken's Hooks is a sponsor. FitRite Hydraulics is a sponsor. And so on. They are following the rules and are site sponsors, which gives them the ability to advertise and link to their own stuff for profit. Their handles are marked "Advertiser" so we know. It's transparent and they are supporting the site.

I am a mod on another site and we frequently see folks posting videos with the sole purpose of promoting their YouTube channel. They do it under the guise of participating and being helpful, but about 99% of the time it's really basic/obvious information and not genuinely beneficial to the forum members. In reality, it is a form of spam because they are using the forum as a path to run advertising which profits them, not the forum. That violates the rules of most forums, by the way, but it's up to the management and moderators to enforce it.

When I see a video where someone is telling people they can shake loose materials out of a tractor bucket to spread them (= duh) and it's got advertisements (= profit), it totally fits the pattern.

I'd love to be proven otherwise. Show me a breakthrough video with original thinking and no ads, then I will be thankful and impressed.
Another thumbs up here. If you want to advertise here, become a sponsor and pay your dues. Slipping in an ad for your video, which you alone profit from, isn稚 playing by the rules and cheapens the site.👍

One major difference that you are overlooking is everyone you mentioned advertise here in an attempt to persuade TBN members to buy their products and or services. Thats fantastic, win win, the difference is my videos are free to watch for anyone, costs them nothing and some people find them helpful. In other words I am not asking anyone to send me money in exchange for a product or service. Now since thats out of the way let me say this, It's my belief that the ones that have an issue with me sharing a video really has nothing to do with the reasons they mention. It's deeper than that,I have been doing this long enough to understand that some people for some reason just have a problem with youtube creators earning money for their work. I don't know if its jealousy or what it is because my brain doesn't work that way. I like to see people do well, I love seeing anyone that puts in the work and is passionate about what they do succeed. Some people really have no idea what it takes to run a channel, filming, editing, answering comments, emails, facebook messages answering questions. Its a ton of work but we love doing it or we wouldn't be. Others may understand that there is a lot of work involved but just don't like seeing others doing well.

I can't believe you posted that.

As I've said repeatedly, your intent and purpose will be revealed. :)

Whats wrong with the truth? Go back to the beginning of this post, I post a tractor related video, six or seven comments discussing different techniques to spread stone. Exactly what this should be about, then boom you show up with nothing to ad except you "hate ads, and am I profiting from this" what does that have to with the topic of the thread? I see it happen over and over, a thread gets hijacked because someone doesn't like something that has nothing to do with the topic then people pick sides and ruin and what could have been a good conversation.

Don't fret over the neanderthals...they have nothing better to do but sit around and comment ad nauseam on just about every topic that comes up whether they actually know anything about the subject or not...!

Hang in there...The video was fine IMO...the hardest thing about distributing gravel with a FEL is being able to see.

Do your thing dude, don't worry about it. I like your videos.

Thanks! Hope it works for you, Hows the weather in Georgia?

Too much rain lately, Mike. Not a fan of it. Haven稚 had much seat time in a while. Got a stretch of dry days coming and looking forward to it! I致e seen on your videos you致e had your share of snow and cold up your way. Bad combination, IMO! Take care.

I'm late to this thread, and frankly I hadn't even thought about these issues until now. It makes me curious what's involved in becoming a sponsor of TBN? I can't find anything about it on the home page, but maybe I'm not looking in the right place. I doubt if it costs very much. So that makes me wonder: If Outdoors With The Morgans becomes a sponsor, doesn't the whole dust-up go away? :confused3:

Mike, you've got a nice YouTube channel, and your family has successfully built your own brand with it: The Outdoors With The Morgans brand. Why not just become a proud sponsor like Fit-Rite Hydraulics and Ken's Bolt On Hooks? Then nobody could complain about you having a hidden marketing agenda!

RK Tractors, and the many folks interested in knowing more about them, have all benefited considerably from your videos. That's a very nice thing, IMO.

What I'm not following is your argument that you're not marketing anything here merely because you're "not asking anyone to send you money in exchange for a product or service." As my daddy used to say, "That's a little too cute by a half". :)

Isn't it fair to say that when you started this thread and posted the video from your for-profit, commercially-sponsored YouTube channel, you expected, at least in large part, to promote the OWTM brand? With the hope of driving additional traffic to your channel?

True, you may not be marketing a product or service that you produce yourself, in the traditional sense. But you are certainly marketing your brand and your channel. And then, in turn, your channel is the medium for your own sponsors and advertisers to market their products and services. So, you essentially are doing by indirection what you say you're not doing directly. No?
