Spring Cleaning in a BIG way

This is a great topic and so close to home!!!

We are just 2 people and we have a crammed house, a crammed shop, a crammed barn and now we're adding more storage. :D:D

I call my wife the queen of clutter but I'm no better. I bet we have taken 40+ pick up loads to the dump in the last 13 years at this home and still we have crap. LOL it's hilarious.

My buddy "Ron the redneck" or "Ron Sandford" up the road has most of us beat though, his farm is covered with so much junk you can see it on Google satellite! He has 153 acres and there are litereally fields that look like scrapyards. A couple of years ago when scrap was high he had 120 tons (metric tons!) hauled off and still the place is full. One time he had an auction and he made $64,000 on the stuff he had. He gets most of it for free and then fixes it etc. He makes a lot of dough buying and selling but man what a pack rat. Luckily he lives on a hill by the road and the whole farm his hidden from veiw.

He's not related to Red is he?:D I know what ya mean. Growing up we always had junk laying around. Matter of fact when going through some old papers of the family farm, I found my granddad actually had it registered as a junk yard. That would explain all the cars and busses. I guess the hogs and sheep were just a side project for him. I swore when I grew up I wouldn't let my place get like what I'd had growing up. Today my outside yard is kept up, I keep all the sticks and trash out of the yard and I'm very happy with the outside landscape, but what was hiding inside the house really blew my mind.

Ha ha ha

We have a junk area too, tucked away behind the barn where nobody can really see it.

I think my pal is definitely related to Red!

My wife, who is about the finest human being I have ever met, is a packrat. When things get too cluttered after a while I start dropping hints that I am going to clear an area out and dispose of whatever I think can go.
After I go ahead and do that the wife will be a little peeved for a few days and then get over it and not seem to miss any of the stuff that is gone. Until 6 months later and she has to repurchase one $5-10 item out of the 200+ I disposed of. I hear about that for a while. I will gladly make the trade of a minor repurchase for cleaning out an entire room every time. ;o}

Yep, Eddie, there you go talking about me!

We got a new neighbor and he apparently didnt like my junk collection of equipment and farm machines around the yard and shop. He was from up north and mentioned it several times. One day I came home and he and some buddies were loading it onto trailers. I was hot I pulled out the shotgun and made them unload it all and tote it back to its respectful place. They said we knew you got hurt in a wreck and probalby couldnt remove it yourself. so we re helping clean up the neighbor hood. I had the big one. I told them I put it there for a reason and they had better get used to it. Im registered as a salvage yard around the shop. I make several dollars selling partts to fix deerplot disks and other garden tools out of this stuff. I wished I had some of your old rakes up there. They make great vineyard rakes and als bent springs make a good martin gourd hanger and the wheels are saleable to. I recently had a landscaper come by and saw a big casted bracket that looked like an old carrier off a sawmill carriage. He had a fit for it hes working it into some kind if landscaping project at the lake. I made 50 bucks off something that was dumped on me. My wife and me have a good understanding of junk and such. Someone gave us 3 crock pots and spome other things from a dicounted goods out fit they owned. i stuffed a whole truck load of junk to the salvation army and dumped it on the porch. i know I dont have a great yard but i cant have alot of utensil and stuff in the house that are extras that noone usues Id rather see it go to good use.
