If the bolt is pressed in the seat slide then surely the rubber piece should screw off the bolt or how was it assembled to start with? :confused3:


He** if I know.....They both just spin????? - I figured an 2 minute swap out but no luck.

It appears to me you pop the tops off those hollow bumpers and remove the nut from inside.

Your springs on the 2020 are twice as long as my 2000? And looking at the bumpers I added there just about the same height now. Luckily the Bolt Head was easy to get to but I had to go through the top of my Springs and get to the nut. When I got it off it sure didn't take much to collapse them being so short and thats why I added new bumpers.

I have a thread where i put them on my YM2000. Took me all of 10 mins i unbolted the old springs and used the same bolts to bolt the used set of lawnmower springs i bought in place. gives a definite cushion. Why dont you just take a grinder to the rubber and then drill that flat steel out to the bolt size then tap it or just drill it and put a bolt through and nut on the bottom? would not take 20 mins and WAY better ride.

Im like winston do they not just screw in with a bolt on the inside of the rubber?

the springs i got were off an MTD mower i think? they were the same height or a bit taller than the rubber stops. they are not a super soft spring and dont bottom out but sure do cushion more than the rubber.

I had to use an extention and ratchet to go through the hollow rubber to grab the bolt head and then get the nut on the bottom with a wrench i beleive? Cut those rubber things off or just drill a 3/8 hole in the top and see if its hollow?

On my 2000 just a Nut you have to go through the top. If no spring just a rubber bumper unsrcew It.

Against my better judgement I went forward. For those who follow - the risks are breaking off these studs and either have to weld a new stud to the slide or weld the spring in place and a 5 minute job turning into a royal pain the arse. In any event, I drilled the first one from the top but that didn't work. The hole I created would not allow a socket down in there. When I went to use a larger drill bit the rubber didn't cooperate and I barely enlarged the hole. I used a razor knife and split it down the side and removed the cushion that way. This proved a better way because the first nut and stud were very pitted and the original 14mm nut was somewhere in the 13mm range and I would have never been able to get it to come off. In fact some heat and a pipe wrench and it moved. One stud slightly bent but a couple new SS nuts and I think I am good to go. Thanks for all of the comments folks

why didnt you just cut the stud flat with the plate and drill a hole and use a bolt with a nut on the bottom?
