At any rate +40F is too high a T to expect the system to malfunction in any way using the manufacturer speced oil. The problem should be found rather than allowed for.
Since, according to your profile, you do not own a NH tractor, you wouldn't know this. NH specifies a different hyd oil, F200 multi season oil, for use in low temperature conditions. So, it's not a problem to be found, or allowed for, if the right fluid is used.

MikePa have you read (Swithed from NH134 fluid to F200) in NH Owning/Operating? Well #22 well pour (Not like water) out of a jug at 32F (0C) where as a #32 will ooze out. When the pump has to draw this in it's like trying to use a straw with a bend in it, which one do you think would be easier? Best to perheat the oil.

Yes, I've read it, a long time ago. As for the rest of your post....'#22 well pour', '#32 will ooze'. I suppose if I knew what #22 and #32 referred to I could comment.

Sorry. What I mean by #32 and #22 is the temperature and viscosity of hydraulic oil are inversely related; as temperature increases, viscosity decreases. In order to define the kinematic viscosity of oil, its viscosity is quoted at a set temperature (40イ for the ISO standard) and the oil is given a value according to the viscosity index (V.I.). For example an oil quoted as conforming to ISO 22 will have a viscosity of 22 mm2s-1/ cSt at 40イ. So if you go buy hydraul oil it in a bottle with #22 or#32 and so on. This is the same as a Multi-Viscosity or Grade oil.

Ah, OK. Now that I know, I still can not comment. :D

If people want to use their tractor in cold temps and the tractor is not kept in a heated garage, switch to a multi vis synthetic hyd oil.

If people are looking to purchase a tractor for use in such temps, make it a condition of sale that the dealer put in F200 or Amsoil.

I have a tc40da that also squeals below 40 degrees. Drives me nuts. I have 400 hrs on the tractor and it has been making noise since new. Dealer put a new pump and oil in and I still have the same problem. I have learned to live with it. Dealer said that there was a pump problem at one time. If I pull back my loader joystick just a wee bit squeal goes away. I also notice when I put forks on my loader and try to pick up a bit too much weight, if I just pull my joystick back that wee bit I can usually lift the load high enough.....

Which oil did he use, NH134 or F200?
