I just installed the Kubota skid steer adapter to my Kubota loader. So far the only attachment I have to check the fit is a blank SSQA plate which I'm going to weld onto my pallet forks this weekend. Before welding I wanted to check the fit.

When I sit the blank plate on the adapter it doesn't just drop cleanly onto the top without having to pick it up and position it. If I just drop it onto the adapter, the plate sticks out at the bottom and the pins will not latch unless I pick it up and position it.
If I pick it up and adjust it so the bottom pins will latch, it fits loose on the adapter and can be moved around by hand. The top of the adapter doesn't bottom out inside the top of the plate. Is this normal?

How much of the top of the adapter should be underneath the angle of the plate? If it's positioned as to where it locks in at the bottom, there's about half of the top edge of the adapter making contact with the plate.
The top angle is correct at 45 degrees.

Since I'm new to the skid steer system I'm not sure how they're supposed to fit and I don't want to weld it to my forks if the plate is not right.

Can someone enlighten me?

The plate should drop onto the QA, be tight at the top, fit flush against the front, with very little gap at the bottom.

The 16" dimension is the critical one. Sounds like your plate is out of spec.

The QA.

Too much gap at the bottom, the locking pins are not touching the slot in the plate.

The pins should fit mostly into the holes on the bottom of the SSQA plate/implement. The springs keep pressure on the pins so its self tightening if things shift around. If your pins are loose or go all the way past the tapered bit when going into the holes you have a loose connection & a problem.

Here are a few pics showing the fit. What do you think?

I think Kubota got sloppy making the QA, the plate looks good. It should work OK with your loader lifting power.

The top of the QA is too short, it should contact the plate where the angle starts.

This is a drawing from Bobcat of the SSQA.

Thanks for the info. I'll measure top to bottom of the quick attach and see if it's 16".

I'd try to find a friend or neighbor with SSQA. Check your loader & plate against his stuff. I'd bet its more likely your plate than your loader side that's off, but its not impossible Kubota made a mistake.

Pin engagement looks about right. The connection at the to could fit in the socket deeper & better, but should work fine.

I had the same problem on my pallet forks and the grapple. I welded a 1/4 inch thick piece of bar stock across the top edge of the SSQA plate. You have to do this to the implement not the loader plate or else the factory bucket won't fit.

I went out and put a framing square on the SSQA.

Added arrows at the three points of contact.

Big difference on the Kubota QA.

Depending on the lifting and curl power of the loader it should work OK.

This is what can happen with too much force and a heavy load on the forks.

You also need very little to no gap at the bottom of the plate.

This is too much gap.

Thanks faxman.

Over the weekend I asked a member on OTT to post a pic of his Kubota quick attach. His is made and looks exactly like mine. Also, I got my SSQA bucket yesterday and it fits perfectly on my hitch without any slop or gaps.

It has to be an issue with the plate. I've contacted Titan about the issue and sent them pics and a video of the problem. I'll see how it plays out.

By the way, here's the video of the problem. I have to push the bottom toward the hitch before it will come close to the pins. When it's released, it just flops out of the way.

When that plate is on an implement, the weight of the implement will keep it down.
I don't think there's an issue there.

I does seem like the Kubota SSQA doesn't need that jog away from the plate at the top. I'm sure one of their engineers involved could tell you why. I've never had an issue with mine fitting anything.

I thought the same thing and figured it would settle down on the hitch correctly when weight was on it so I tacked it my pallet forks and the same thing happens. I had to push and kick the frame before it would fall into place. My SSQA bucket drops right into place without any problems at all.

I have another brand of plate coming and will compare the fit of the two.

That plate looked flat, so i bet the same is going to happen on the new plate.
I often have to 'jiggle' the implement to get it fully seated.

Good luck. I'm sure it'll all end up fine.

Titan has been the source of much hand-wringing by unhappy customers here on TBN. Here is a post from them promising to do better, back in May:

Default Re: Pallet Forks disconnect from the FEL quick attach
Hey guys, definitely agree it should be right the first time. Mistakes in fabrication can happen and we need to do a better job of detecting them before they ship. We have doubled our QC efforts and are working overtime to check every frame and attachment in stock. We apologize for any that got by us, but know this...we will always stand by our product and make it right!

Have a great holiday weekend!
Visit us at PalletForks.com or call (800) 605-8241 for your pallet forks, grapple buckets, grapples rakes, clamp-on forks and more!}

I hope that in the future, potential customers would search them out on TBN before succumbing to whatever makes this company attractive.

There is nothing wrong with this plate, it has about 1/4" or less gap at the bottom. The problem is the way Kubota made the top of the QA.

I wonder if the Kubota bucket would fit on a SSQA or a different brand of tractor QA?

I had emailed Titan with my concerns and heard back from them on the same day and I appreciated that too. They had a Kubota hitch in their facility to compare to mine and they sent me a pic of it. It's made exactly like the one I have. You are correct, that's just the way that Kubota makes their hitches. I guess that doesn't make them bad, just a little different. Here's the pic they sent me of the one they have in their warehouse to check the fit of a plate they have.

I kept the Titan plate but will use it to make a trailer mover or something else that is lighter weight instead of using it on my pallet forks. Even though the Titan plate is okay and within specs, I have another plate from a different manufacturer that slides right into place on my hitch, fits better at the top and doesn't have as much slop at the bottom.

Thanks for all your help.

I doubt it's the Kubota hitch. That gap isn't an issue, Titan's tractor-side brackets have the same top and same gap... no wonder it looks identical, they probably copied theirs from Kubota.

My guess is Titan's plate is off. Many people have had to modify theirs. I gave up after they sent me another set with the same issues on the tractor side. The QA plate with hitch I bought had similar fitment issues.

If you buy an ATI, Gehl, Case, etc. attachment... no fitment issues.

Houser52, can you tell us the manufacturer of the second plate that fits better? I have been planning to buy a plate and that would be useful to know. Thanks.

Finished welding on the plate today. It goes on and off easily and locks up tight.
