Standard ROPS lights getting battered.

/ Standard ROPS lights getting battered. #21
The problem is :
1*Wrong lights.
2*The lights are mounted the wrong way.
3*Lights are mounted in the wrong location.
4*Permanently mounted rather than Quick attach-detach.

What about leaving the lights on the outside but putting them on a sprung hinge setup similar to the rear veiw mirrors on many cars and trucks? That way they just bend around the offending object they hit? Perhaps even checking with you local car wrecker can supply you with some sprung hinge mirrors where the outside glass is broken and you can cut off the the outside plastic and mount the lights to the piece that is left which hinges?

Good luck,

Chris

mhalla,
I should confess I mounted the standard JD brush guards, then bought and mounted two sets of rectangular light protectors (wire mesh) from Pep boys fore and aft on top of the JD guards. The combination works well. The JD guards protect from major impact and the wire mesh screens protect from the glancing blows in the woods. I mounted the two sets of guards about three years ago and so far so good. At least I haven't had to replace any lights since then.
