If it wasn't for the dark hair , I'd swear it was me on that tractor hat and all.. freaky /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Being as you are a fellow 1433'er, does Massey Ferguson make a brush guard to go on the front? When I was doing some bush hoggin' I started thinking about the fact that the front of the tractor is not protected. Are there after-market companies for stuff like that?

Mark, The brush guard comes on the tractors with the FEL option, so I would say you can get one ,but they aren't very good at keeping brush out. Check this picture out to see one...Never mind the old gray haired guy ... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Like Nasty said, MF does offer one. If you order one, have the dealer order it through whole goods. It will be a lot cheaper than through parts. It does really need some expanded metal welded on to it. Also be sure to tell them that you want the one that tilts. At one time, they made one that didn't.

I won't be able to get a FEL until probably next spring. I want it to protect the front when I am bush hoggin'. Looking at Nasty's pictures I wonder how much protection I'll get. It looks like it will work for keeping the limbs/brush off of the front as long as I don't run into the end of branch or something like that. Is the cost worth the funtion?

Another tidbit for thought is , If you get the one from the dealer you may want to add some steel to the sides for better coverage and Jerry's suggestion of the expanded metal in the center...
If you where to get the guard that didn't pivot ,you wouldn't be able to open your hood!! /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif If it was as close to the grille as mine. The pivot lets you pull two pins a flip it forward so the hood would clear... /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
But after all that , Maybe the guard would come as part of the loader kit??? It should in my way of thinking /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Best to ask first .

Here is a photo of mine on the tractor... This one dosen't tilt, what they did was "rolled" it away from the hood so you could open the hood. (the FEL and guard is all Massey). The FEL is a 1525 and yes the guard came with it.

That looks like it would help a lot. I don't want brush and limbs dragging on the tractor. I'll try to call my dealer tomarrow and find out about getting one. Hopefully it won't cost too much. I plan on keeping this tractor for a long time. I'll talk to him about whole goods, not parts. I haven't heard of that before. And make sure that it either tilts or is sloped.

Another thing. They use to offer a version for a tractor with a loader and one for a tractor without a loader. I don't know if they still do or not, but make sure that the dealer knows that you want to add a loader in the future. The bottom of the one with a loader has a C-channel to accept the loader, the other one doesn't. It needs to tilt and also be loader compatible.
