Starter life

I have a L2350 25hp. w/1200hrs. I was wondering what the average
starter life is for as compact diesel tractor. I'd hate to be stuck down in the
wood with a bad starter. Safer to have it rebuilt after so many hrs?

I wouldn't borrow trouble. If it starts to act up, you will know it. It won't kick it every time, or will kick out early or will only crank slow. Starters don't normally fail catastrophically, usually there is plenty of warning.

I would expect a kubota starter to last easily for 5000 hours, but that depends on how you operate. If you start and stop every 10 min that will be more starts that if you start and run for 4-6 hours. Also, keeping the electrical contacts good and clean will help with the life of the starter.

Ijust had mine rebuilt after 13 yrs and 1040 hrs on the clock. just wait till its slows down a bit then bring it in for service.

Keeping the battery up and keeping the connections clean and tight prevents 99.9% of starter problems. On Kubotas, failure of the actual starter itself is pretty rare. Does yours have any symptoms? (slow or weak operation, unusual sounds, etc?)

I found out it was the battery ( only 2yrs old ) but it was a combination of things. New alternator belt (4yrs) wasn't tight enough, battery connections were snug but not tight, alternator/starter connections needed a little cleaning. Recharged the battery and starter cranks strong and quick. But I see from the other post ( 13yrs and 1040hrs--needed rebuilt ) ??..makes you wonder..
