Starting Improvement Kit

I just installed the JD starting improvement kit on my '95 B2100 to help with some occasional starter engagement issues. It works great in this application and is a really easy install.

I'm very pleased with the results. I got the tip about the improvement kit from these boards. You folks are great help.

I have never heard of such a thing. What does a starting improvement kit consist of and what issues does it resolve ?

Never heard of it either but a quick Google search came up with John Deere Starting Improvement Relay Kit - AM107421.

You got it, victor43 and thavil.

I ended up paying about $26.00 via the Internet. I mounted the relay on the dynamo mount, just in front of the starter. Solved the "slow" solenoid problem and it allows the safety switches to remain in play in the starting circuit. Easy install, too.
