Backhoe Starting issues

I was allowed to borrow a Kubota L-2800 from a relative. Very nice gesture!!
Tractor can only be started with a screw driver touching the starter solenoid and the battery wire to the starter. I thought it was possible a kill switch issue. However once it痴 started you can get off the tractor and it keeps running. I believe that means the kill switch is not the culprit. Any ideas?

The tractor's safety systems are much more complicated. At the heart is an OPERATOR PRESENCE CONTROLLER.

How do you stop it? Unless someone has bypassed a lot of stuff the engine stop solenoid should be kicking into action.

I have pulled some pages from the Workshop manual ( A Scottish version but likely quite similar).

Once you have read over this material ask more questions.

Replace the ignition switch?
I had to have the clutch in on my L2850 shuttle shift tractor.

You can cerify that it is the ignition switch by jumping the back of the switch.

I second the recommendation of farther testing before throwing parts at it. Follow through with what Dave say's in post 2,and go from there.
