Whatis you are trying to say?

Plain old stock from the factory fourwheel drive with no power steering and no spinner will do a very nice job on your thumb if you wrap it arouind the steering wheel.

I never put my thumb around the wheel just from past experiences and there be many others who also act the same way! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hmmm, good point. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Based on some other threads about liability concerns, maybe it's only a matter of time before someone sues for a dislocated thumb from holding the wheel wrong, too. Do new tractors have instructions or cautions about holding the wheel improperly? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Egon I still remember my uncle's spinner on his JD, so it could be as recent as 40 years ago in Texas! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Bob:

Nice to see you posting again. I was away for a while too, but different reasons. Nice to have you back. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

With the M9 you have to watch where you are going fore sure. It's quite clumsy in tight spaces as compared to the 5030. More than once now, I've almost damaged an innocent bystander (like my pickup truck) while manuvering the beast around in the sideyard. The pallet forks (which stay on 90% of the time) look like 2 big, long dull knives sticking out in the front. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I think if I do install a spinner it will be a generic one. Less distractions that way. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I put a wheel spinner on my K L3400 at 6 o'clock. I love it, and don't think I have touched the actual steering wheel since.

Considering the "ups and downs" in WVA, I hope you have 2 hands on the spinner and is it welded to the steering wheel rim?? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Since I started this thread I thought I would give an update. I have been away from the board for a while. My wife's mother passed away last week.

Anyway as it turns out the model spinner that I bought from TSC is designed to mount on the steering wheel spokes. The spokes appear to be at 2 6 and 10 o'clock. so I mounted it 6. I makes backing the trailer much easier.

Thanks for all the tips.

( One of my tractors has power assisted steering, the kind with a cylinder assisting the manual linkage. It has a large diameter steering wheel so making quick turns is cumbersome without the spinner. My spinner is also at 7:00 o'clock and really increases the manuverability of the tractor. My newer tractor has very easy steering and a smaller diameter steering wheel, so I just hook a finger on a spoke on it to turn. )
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I just use the palm / heal of my hand on the steering wheel of my bx 23. works great.
No spinner knob thumping me on the hands or fingers getting caught in the steering wheel spokes this way.
