Steve Jobs passes away.

He was the Henry Ford, Edison, and Bell of our time. I was just talking to the wife yesterday while she was using her iphone and said how does anyone even begin to conceive the concept of what this phone does. Calling it a phone is actually an insult.

She conducts business on it from morning till late at night and everything is at her finger tips.

Good bye Steve, you left this Earth a better place.

Sad to hear that ! There is a guy that had a lot to live for! He sure did leave his mark on the world though.

Unfortunately, ones we love, brilliant minds and some really good down to earth people leave us before it is warranted... he set the bar very high!

Other than the actual computer products, Steve's vision is an example of great corporate design, strategy, marketing, branding and creative thinking and out-side-the-box development!

A lot of companies could learn from this incredible business.

Wow a gigantic loss. Almost all the high tech things we use came down the pike from Apple. The home computer, the mouse, icons, drag and drop, click, double click, pinch, phones, digital pictures, digital music, you know really all of it. Owned an Apple since 1980, owned a mac since 1986, and it still works, an SE512e. I know I will miss him, he is the Ferrari of cars, the Demming of management, the inventor of how the modern computers work, and all modern devices work and interface with user.

Great design combined with usability demanded by a guy with vision who could sell it. He turned a sinking liferaft into an aircraft carrier.

I wish I had bought stock in the early 2000's when I first bought an Apple product and was impressed. The stock seemed overvalued then, I think its about 50 times that now lol.

Incredible vision, simplicity is and was his bottom line. In 1982 I had my first IBM PC running DOS. No one in the family used it except me for my college computer courses. When I saw the Lisa come out, I said, that is the way things are going. I bought the 512K "Fat Mac" in 1984. Suddenly everyone in my family wanted to use it.

Steve Jobs seemed far more interested and passionate about creating than money. While he certainly did not die a poor man, he did not attain the mass wealth he could have had he wanted too, at least, that's my thought.

I just hope the folks he left behind to steer the ship have a steady hand

Bought my first apple // in 1980 and later traded up for the //e... still have it and never a crash or single issue in 30 years.

Steve would have a big Christmas party at his house... one year one of the kids I know attended... she was around 8 and each child received a new laptop all wrapped in Christmas paper...

He did have his moments and would sometimes leave a wake in his path of shaking employees... one thing you never wanted to do was piss him off or come off as a yes man... if you did, you were as good as out the door...

One of his brilliant strategies was getting Apple into the schools... Apple always offered school, student and educator discounts... this segment of the market was of little interest to the other guys... so Apple had it all to their own...

Elementary school kids love Apple and later, they buy Apple...

Ditto to what so many others have said.

Since I haven't seen it mentioned, I recommend that you go to YouTube and watch his Commencement Address to Stanford. In my opinion it is the best Commencement speech ever given

Along the same thought - do a search for The Last Lecture - another very special person -Randy Pautsch

R.I.P Steve. You made the world a better place
