TYM T474
Hi TYM owners......I demo’d a T474 a week or so ago and the controls were very tight. To the point that the range selector would not move without pressing on the drive pedal a little bit (salesman directed me to do this). Even after doing this it was difficult to move and didn’t want to find its way into the targeted position easily. The salesman (who in this case is also the service manager) said that’s normal and it’ll loosen up with use.

My question is, was this the case with your tractors when purchased? And if so, did they loosen up with use? For comparison, I demo’d a Kioti and the controls were like butter. Very easy to move without being vague.

I’d love to hear the experience of the TYM crowd.

My Branson's range transmission is like that though it's loosened up some with close to 300 hours on it.

The Kubota L3301 and B2650 I demoed were even harder to shift. I think the clearances are tight.

My Branson's 3pt position control and throttle lever both have adjustable friction dampers on them. They were tighter than I prefer from the factory, by quite a bit. Loosening them made those controls work much smoother.

Yes, mine was a little stiff on the selector between L-N-M-H. But mine is much better now, sometimes still there is times it won't slide easy into gear. I let go off brake pedal to let it move wheels, OR tap HST pedals gently if I'm on just plain ground.

Thanks guys.....I posted this question on the TYM Owners FB page also and got similar response from them. It IS stiff.....it DOES loosen up a bit.....you DO get used to it......hydrostats in ALL colors do this. I didn’t have the issue with the Kioti I tried, but I had limited stick time so maybe I missed it. I’m going back up to give the T474 another go tomorrow.

It isn't just the hydrostats that are stiff shifting L-N-M-H. I have the shuttle shift and it is also really stiff. There have been a couple of times where I am fighting with the lever trying to get it to shift ranges. Only 30 hours on it so I hope this loosens up a little.

that's interesting.....most of the comments I got (primarily on the FB owners group) was that it was hydrostat related. I did end up buying that machine and I have no regrets. It hasn't been nearly as much of an issue as I was worried about. I do hope it loosens up, but if it doesn't it'll be fine for me. Only at 10 hours myself.

The range selector on my M6040 has loosened up somewhat with time.

mine was like that until about 150 hours. I grease it often which helps loosen it up ( 1 pump and grease is coming out)

Mine are still somewhat stiff @ 500 hours. A WHOLE LOT better than when it was brand new.
