Okay, my woodboss is from 1980s. I bought it new. It does not have many hours on it.When starting, sometimes it fires or yanks back on the recoil handle. It either snags it out of my hand or shears off the white pawl inside the recoil. This pawl slings out and engages the flywheel to start it. If it breaks, the recoil will not work until you remove the 4 screws and pull it off and put in new pawl. Anyone know of a cure for this madness?? I am out of pawls and want it fixed? Plus the oil for the chain reser. seems to run out the bootm of the saw when sitting. Surely I don't have the only one they made that does this quirp.Thx. Jy.

Okay, with what, a sparkplug? Do you know how to set or check the timing? the saw shop said it was okay? Honestly it cuts great and starts pretty good. But that poping back is a pain? Plus finding the pawls? Jy.

If saw shop checked it for timing issues e.g. sheared key on flywheel and that is OK, then I suggest a slightly different starting technique: pull it over slowly until it gets to top of compression stroke -- will feel "stiff" -- then let the rope go back into recoil winder so you have full amount available, then "pull with authority" as they say. See if that helps the pop back issue.

regards the oil dripping, I have that if I put in cold oil and then bring the saw in where it is warm. The oil builds pressure, and pushes out.

Not sure this is your situation, but possible. I lay the saw on its side, and crack the oil and fuel caps to relieve the pressure buildup.

Bucking problem -- Use CLEAN, FRESH, HI OCTANE (not regular, not mid range) NON ETHANOL FUEL. I use Stihl synthetic oil mix in all my saws. You may have a build up of carbon in that saw causing higher comperession. The sysntectic oil is suppose to help clean up and eliminate the carbon build up. I can't testify that it does or doesn't.

As far as the leaking oiler, pull the pump and if possible, rebuild it (parts may be a problem) or just replace the pump (again, availability may be an issue). AND what beenthere said.

As said above, use fresh premium gas. I find that I have a starting kickback problem if the gas is over a month old.
