Well, today I brought home a new Stihl MS260 Pro.
WOW! That is quite a terrific saw compared to my little Stihl 018C, which was having trouble revving high. The dealer told me he'd give me $40 on a trade in. I said, "nah", to that offer and told him to service it instead and see if he could fix the high rpm problem. Im hoping to get it fixed up and then will use the little 018C as a back up saw or maybe a loaner, whenever that occurs..... /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
Back to the MS260 Pro saw...
I ran three tank fulls of mixed gasoline in it and I am now truely in love with this saw - even tho, I could only run it at half throttle during the breakin period. BUT NOW that is over, Im really looking forward to putting this saw to the test tomorrow at full throttle.
Here's what I really like about my MS260 Pro. (I chose to equip it w/ 16" bar, 0.325" chain).
1-MS260 Pro 'pull-starts' easier than my 018C. Of course, it has a decompression valve. NEAT feature! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
2-Gas tank capacity is bigger than the 018C - longer between refueling stops,
3- No nasty, unexpected handling characteristics. Nice balance.
4- This saw is just over 10 lbs. I just love the weight!
5- This saw really gobbles up the wood! I guess I just wasnt used to a "hot saw".
Anyway, today I cut about 3500 lbs of recently felled osage orange (hedge) for using as firewood. Tomorrow will be locust and more hedge. Hard stuff. I'll burn 3-4 cords per winter here.
obtw,
here's what I paid.
MS260 Pro- typical list price $459.95 ????
My dealer had a special $25 off sale -
Sale price - $434.95
Carrying case, w/ complimentary Stihl hat and extra chain - $19.99
sales tax- $32.64
total - $487.58
