I understand the shade thing. My philosophy is if you want shade, purchase a property with shade. It's hard to grow good shade trees in a lifetime!!!!

Here big shade, gum tree. I had it trimmed to be giant bonsai. I stood on the ground and said to the guy...that bit, not that bit over there, yes cut that:

I don't believe it to be a Maple. But,,,,,, there are a lot of varieties!!! That will be an awesome shade tree in another 20 years. Doesn't look like anything is crowding it so it'll be able to grow to it's potential majesty.

I hear ya. I borrowed a friend's bucket truck couple years ago. Looks easy from the ground. Whole different world when you're the one in the bucket!!!!

There is this guy here, toting a tiny Stihl and no safety rope, who is happy hopping about almost to the top branches. He is just like an arborist monkey.

That's the color of some of our Maples in Fall. I'm certainly no tree expert. Maybe someone will chime in. If not, I'll borrow your pics and start a thread about it. Or you can. I'm very curious.

Yep. Answer to the question "when should I plant a tree" "20 years ago".

The shape & especially the color look like a Bradford Pear but have also seen gum and maple around here that color too. Our gums are usually narrower and slightly Christmas tree shaped though. Bradford Pears are usually about the last tree to turn color in the fall too around Tenn here.
