Stock market up due to "plunging" oil price

The Wall Street Journal had an article yesterday that stated China has STOPPED ALL imports of gasoline and diesel. China is supposed to have stocked up for the games. China has also increased refinery capacity.

Diesel is down to 4.19 near me. The highest I saw it was at 4.85-4.89. The price has not dropped much this week only two cents. Previous week had a 40ish cent drop.

I've evidently lost my war not to comment in this thread.

People should invest actively only if they are VERY knowledgable*. For most, buying and holding diversified index funds is the way to go.

Its not what I do, (And I am up over 20% this year, as are many I know), but no one should try to be an amateur in a game where others are professionals.

(* for very knowledgable, I'd say an intuitive understanding of the black-sholes model, (edit, I'd typo'd shiller there before) and instantly knowing what's amusing about John Meriwether. If that sounds like gibberish, Index funds are your friend)

Saw this in Thursday news paper. Gee. As soon as the oil companies hear about this the gas prices will plunge fast.

I'd never heard of Shiller and did a quick google search (which also found nothing that I could see, but I'll admit I didn't look too hard/far.
