Stock tips?

Of all the big name stock we own, none has done better than the company I work for (Green Mountain Coffee Roasters: NASDAQ GMCR). Bought a bunch two years ago at $4.40. Bought a tractor and a car after it split and hit $38.00+ this year!

Who woulda thunk!!!

Have you ever been a landlord? I bought the office complex where my office is and I'm ready to sell it. It is such a hassle to be a landlord. I would never do it again. I finally hired a manager to take care of it all but even then it's a pain.

Only problem with buying is you don't know how low they are going to go. Most of the "pros" that I talk to still don't think we've hit the bottom yet. There are still not alot of good indicators that the economy is going to turn around anytime soon. Everyday you hear about more layoffs. I personally still don't see anything to make me feel good about it.

I agree the market may not have hit bottom, but I think there are a lot of stocks that have. I was pretty well diversified when things crashed, and only Lucent and WorldCom went lower than when I bought them. Oops, and ExiteAtHome. So while my top value dropped 25%, I'm still up more than I would be if I'd been out for 2years.

Passed on Green mountain a year ago or so Pete. Oops! Can't stand coffee, so figured I avoid anything I had no clue about. Shoulda gone with that hunch /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

I think that in two years the market will be higher than it is now, and probably by more than 10%, so I can't see staying out. I'm in for the next 30years or so, so the ups and downs aren't a great issue for me.

PS) I still think you guys should peek at CCEL. Even if you don't buy their stock, if you're going to have kids, or your kids are gonna have kids, you should find out about them!!!

Yes you are right about staying in for the long haul toddler. That's really the only way to truly beat the stock market. I did really well though as I rode this thing from the beginning. I had made quite a little bit and didn't want to see it wiped out. I knew I could go more and make some more but I am a firm believer in not being greedy. I will get back in in when things start going good again.
